Hi All

Found this link to a radio station with a golf talk feature.....    My eyes glazed over well before the end,   but  it sound to me as though the PGA academy will move from Roda to Corvera as  Corvera  comes on stream in 2009....   

 The academy  at Roda is to be  housed in  the existing ( temporary ) club house at Roda  only until 2009.......     Roda will retain some kind of branded PGA  status after 2009, I believe this to mean that PGA associated professionals can run courses at Roda if they so wish.

La Manga  used to be the PGA spot in Spain,  but lost that some years ago...  My apologies if I'm behind the times or missed a thread with this.

This info really sucks. Not sure what the implications are, but they won’t be good. I had an appointment with a PGA pro last month and he cancelled. I told him that Roda was going to be a PGA academy. Maybe he knew something I didn’t.

in some ways that is not all bad news, as if it retains PGA academy status the course will be closed due to various events etc.

I think what is important is the quality of the course and once De Vere are up and running they will want to market golfing breaks. A 5 star hotel will demand the course is good for their customers, after all they do mange The Belfry and Slaley Hall, two pretty well thought of courses in the UK

What will be interesting is what concessions owners at Roda will get when playing Corvera.

Anyone got any thoughts on the golfing rights package?

I have to agree that we felt it was important that Roda owners were given concessions for golf at Corvera too.  However, we were told in the early stages that this would not happen and there would be no shared discounts.  At this time we were also told that Corvera owners would NOT be able to use the Beach Club.  It seems that this is not the case and they are going to be able to use the Beach facilities.  I actually bought this point up on the Beach Club forum because surely then we should be allowed to play on the Corvera golf course with a discounted green fee but I am not sure if this is the case.
