Madrid Plane crash

Whilst over at San Cayetano, I got very bad mosquito bites - apparently the female mosquito can lay eggs under the skin so they went dark purple with huge white/ yellowy centres. I went to the pharmacist in the village & she said as my legs had swollen so badly I needed to go the medical centre at 8am the next morning.

We duly arrived & I was allocated an appointment for 10am - the doctor spoke no English, but used a translator machine to ask if they were itchy. I was then given 2 prescriptions which cost me all of 1 euro 87 cents courtesy of th E111 card.

When treating you the medical centre needs a photocopy of your E111 card, they do not have a photocopier, however we managed to get it copied at Caja Murcia bank in the village.

In future we will take a couple of copies over to leave in the house.

It was last week.

I am not sure where I got bitten as I wasn't aware of any mozzys.

It's the first time over there that I have got bitten & even David got bitten, but not as badly so they must have thought I was tastier!!

I will certainly be packing the insect repellent in future.

They are still large so I won't be wearing a skirt for a while as it looks ike I have the lurgy

Bad luck - usually it's me not Glyn that they attack so I do sympathise. Guessed you had been out again as we haven't heard from you for a while.

Sounds like a lot has been going on since we met up at Easter. The photos recently posted gave us a taste of things in the village and on the development - all looking really good.

i had to use the san cayetano medical centre.... very efficient but only open 2 mornings a week, after that we go to Balsicas which isnt far. however the more people that use san cayetano centre the more chance of them opening up more hours!!

I didn't realise it only opened 2 days a week, we must have just struck lucky. Is the medical centre in Balsicas open every day ?? & whereabouts is it??? I'm not intending to be ill again, but it's good to know these things just in case.

yes the one in Balsicas open untill 2pm then the one in Torre-pacheaco open untill 5pm. After 5pm they have an emergency period then after that its the hospital in San Javier. our experience of the health system can not be faulted so far!!!! blimmin marvelous eh
