completed on friday but got a bit of a shock when paying for notary etc

not only was i hit with taxes for taking out the mortgage but also on the title deeds-  over €6k

this was on top of the 7% iva for the property - spanish governement must be so well off!!

did anybody else get a shock or had i not read the small print properly

Completion costs for an aprtment on HR will generally run to about 5 - 6 K...but will vary slightly depending on size of mortgage...as I think some elements of it are a percentage based figure.

The most common figure that all informational websites quote say you should allow ( if mortgaging) about 12-13 % of  base purchase price ... 7% IVA and about 5% other fees.

Yep the Spanish goverment must be well off....and they haven't finished taxing the life out of you yet. There a few on-going taxes to come yet....but that's another subject.
