Having read David and Lorna's message I felt I should add here that my wife and I pulled out of Calas Del Pinar in June. I had continued to post here as late as August and didn't let on because I didn't see any benefit in posting that news and perhaps putting a downer on other investors. But I feel the time is right to give my story. We like others on here are bitterly disappointed at the way Peinsa have handled the whole situation; and when we went out in June realised (correctly now) that even if the propertys were going to be completed early 2008 (now early 2009 for my phase), then the issue of handing over hundreds of properties and getting habitacion licenses at the same time would mean that even that late date would be unrealistic. What finally made up our minds though was the fact that general propeties in the area on the market were for the first time open to offers, something that hasn't happened for year. So we pulled out and bought a 2 bedroom appartment in Mojacar playa for 171000 euros, getting over 10,000 euros off the asking price (Its second hand not a new build and as such we can now at long last go on holiday in our property its wonderful). This made us happy that the 'paper loss' of pulling out of Calas del Pinar having bought in Sept 2005 was no longer an issue. But what a carry on to get our money back. As you might imagine from this company who have made a habit of fobbing us off with lies and excuses, we had similar nonsense from them in getting out deposit back. In the end having instructed our soliciter to pull out in June, the money went into my account last week! I had a bank guarantee, and had to threaten legal action several times when dates were given for a transfer of the money that did not materialise - I was told that September 15th was the date for Peinsa to get the money in place; as it turned out I was so sceptical at this that I took out a bridging loan to pay for the Mojacar property, if I hadnt I would have lost it. They then came back and said how about they market it and split any profit, then they said what about a cheque post dated to March next year! I said no to all of these, at this point my soliciter said we will have to take legal action. They streched it out as long as they could and eventually paid 6 months later and WE HAD A BANK GUARANTEE! I asked my soliciter what the problem was, were they in financial trouble? She said no but because they had done so much buliding very quickly money was tight. I believe this to be the case and dont think anyone should worry because Peinsa are a very well known company BUT FOR GOODNESS SAKES IF YOU HAVENT GOT A BANK GUARANTEE DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO GET ONE. I dread to think how they would treat someone without one. Bearing in mind they have had 70,000 euros of my money for 2 years I think they have behaved appalingly. Personally after this experience I would never recomment anyone to buy off plan. The place we now have in Mojacar is wonderful, and I know that Calas Del Pinar will be one day, but we just didn't have any more time to wait around for Peinsa to get their act together. Good luck to everyone and I'm genuinely very sad that its had to come to this. If anyones got any questions I'd be very pleased to answer them having been through all the processes bar completing on Calas del Pinar.
