We have just received a reply email from Peinsa regarding the tiles, please see below

Dear Mr & Mrs Cocker,
the technical department is working on the show houses and as you know they are the first houses we are building for that reason there is a possibility to change any of the materials in case they consider they are not suitable for the houses.
As you are coming very soon you could wait to see the materials fitted and give the technical department time to make any modification if its necessary.
Hope to see you soon.

Regards

Sonia & Elena

Now that's better! It's also true that photographs don't always replicate colours correctly, so it would be worth seeing the tiles with the naked eye.

We saw the tiles in the show houses when we visited LTR 4th Jan. We are not impressed to say the least. Before we paid our deposit in May 2005 we were told that we would have a choice of  floor and wall tiles. We had a vision of how we wanted the inside of our home to look which included white tiles on the floor and glass and white furniture. We also wanted all 3 bathrooms tiled differently and modern . Once we had paid our deposit we were told there would be no choice of tiles. We were devastated as the rustic tiles do not suit our needs. We had a meeting with Emilio which did not help at all. We asked if we could pay the difference for tiles that we wanted but they said no. we cannot understand why it is that in Spain where they make such lovely tiles we are being told to have such drab tiles and no choice.

Yes- we flew over last year and were told by Elena that there was no choice and we don't like the tiles at all.  We were also told before putting our money down that there would be a choice.  Mind you, we were told alot of things like building would start in Jan 06.

Elena thought it was quite amusing I think that I was disappointed about the tile situation !

To think that Spain is famous for beautiful tiles......they have obviously gone for a cheap option.

Aaaahhhh!

The situation is even worse now than it was last year.  At least then they said that they would be using yellow and white with a decorative border in one of the bathrooms and a dreadful beige one  to the height of 1m in the other bathrooms. They have replaced the yellow and white ones with a very light beige that looks cheap and nasty. We are also at a loss to understand why they are using plain white in the kitchen. They have  removed the decorative border of plums apples etc in the kitchen but have not decided yet on a replacement. We were told they are still trying different options . We  think that they are being unreasonable not giving any choices. Their marketing brochure states that the villas will represent our personalities and yet every one of us will have the same floor and wall tiles . We even asked them not to tile our house and we would arrange to have it done but  they said that is not allowed. We will have what they want us to have in the colours that they choose but paid for with our money.... does not seem quite right to us

Once they get the licence (hopefully soon please God) we need to sort these tiles out.  They really are unimaginative.  Even our agent was surprised there was no choice when we went last year and she thought they were all awful too.  I can't believe they are not giving us a choice either and who knows what will go in the kitchen now although I didn't like the plum border thing anyway.  It's a shame we can't do anything about this bathroom tile situation but I bet we can't !

Thought this was a high end development........?  Who's the interior designer for heavens sake!?

I thought  that the plum border was awful also but I would not even tell you what they had used as a replacement when we saw the show house in Jan, but fair to say that we were told they  are still not decided.

Hi Guys

I came across a photo of a kitchen on the Murcia Golf site which i think was taken in an apartment on the Roda Golf Complex. Check it out i have posted it on the Photo Gallery. Are these the white tiles?

What do ye think

Cannot really tell if these are the same tiles that we saw in the showhouse. The ones that we saw seemed a bit bigger than these ones, I think  they were a very ordinary 6inch square tile. They looked like the cheapest tile that there is to buy.

Just come back from LTR. Sonia said the tiles in the California showhome are the ones that will be used throughout, but it was locked so we couldn't see them.  When I expressed disappointment with some of the tiles, she did say that all buyers would be invited to take a look when the showhomes are ready, suggesting there may be some choice. Who knows...

Diggers on site, some deep excavation in progress. Guess that when the building licence is finally granted they'll get a move on.
