Hi everyone,
We're in Manzana 5 Quad 16 and due to complete end of March......not long now! .......Been very bad and not logged on much at all but we're out for a few days on 20 Jan and would be nice to meet anyone else who's around. There's also a couple from Whitchurch in Bristol (where we are also) and would be nice to compare notes - can't find who it was - maybe they could send us a private message?
2008 is here!

Hi everyone, paul and sandra greene here from dublin. We are also closing in march o8 and are visiting for a couple of days from 4th to 6th February. We have bought no 7 Manzana 5 facing out onto the green. Its been a while since i last posted a message but if anyone has any advice for me do not hesitate to let me know. I was told the pool would be installed Summer o8 but reading some of the treads it seems to be a little later. Has anyone got a definite date. Also what are the best shops for furniture shopping. Happy New Year to everyone and look forward to meeting you all.

Steve & Carol From Hayling Island
Found the forum by chance and its nice to see that one exists.
We are completing in March 2008, No 18 Manzana 5.
We went out in Late August 2007 but could not get through the fence but grabbed a couple of pics as attached. Our one is on the left of the first two pics. The third shot is looking up through the development with the start of block 5 on the left.
No fixed date yet so will wait with the rest of you.
We went looking at the shop that our furniture pack comes from in the centre of Torrevieja and although there it was on about 6 floors nothing really grabbed our attention and it was quite expensive so we took a trip out to IKEA in Murcia, which has everything and is much cheaper and they also deliver out to San Cayetano. Our plan is to hire something big and go out there buy what we can initially and then get the rest delivered. Am not sure if there is anything else closer but if there is please let us know. It's an easy journey there and back.
Regards
Steve

Hi,
There are lots of furniture shops around. I found a good one in Cartegena called Nido for cabinets, bedroom furniture etc. It's on the new industrial estate off the AP7. Casa is also there for bits and pieces.
There are some lovely interiors shops in the mall at this industrial estate too.
Some good bed shops/ sofa shops on the road to Polaris World Mar Menor ( take the TorrePacheco exit from AP7) all on left hand side before Polaris World.
Yorkshire Linens in San Javier by Mercadona has reasonable bedding/curtains too.
Changing Rooms at La Zenia are good for beds too - they are really helpful and seem to do lots of deliveries to our development.
Hope this helps
Karen

Hi
We bought a lot of our furniture from Changing Rooms at La Zenia (sofas, lounge furniture etc). Everyone in there is very helpful. They also have a shop a couple of doors away which sells curtains etc.
There is also another bed shop in the same parade. We bought our spare beds from here.
Deliveries from the above were both excellent & we were able to pre select before completion, pay a deposit then they held the furniture until we were ready for it.
One thing to bear in mind is that Spanish beds are shorter than UK ones, but if you buy from the above stores they are English so are standard sizes.
Spanish duvets & those stocked in Ikea are also different sizes so you cannot use English covers on them. In the end we bought from Yorkshire Linens in San Javier who stock English bedding. They have just started to stock some Spanish curtains so you can now get more choice in longer drops which you need for the windows in the quads.
We also bought from Inside Right at Balsicas - Gareth & Lynne are very helpful.
Lighting - there is a good shop on the road into San Javier on the left hand side - the lady in there is trying really hard to speak English. They have a lot of stock & brochures which you can order from. There is a guy called Ian on our site who will fit lights etc.
Parque Mediteranneo at Cartagena off the AP7 which Karen mentions is an excellent area for shopping. There are also all the big electrical stores & Leroy Merlin (equivalent to B&Q) on the same site. There is also a large new Carrefour.Good thing is it only takes 20/25 minutes to get there & is open until 10pm at night. Closed on Sundays.
Hope this helps.
Good luck everyone & hope the euro rate improves soon!!!!
Sue
P.S. If anyone is completing at Easter, don't try & go to Ikea over the weekend or the bank holiday Monday as we completed at Easter last year & the queues to get into the store were over an hour's wait, this was after the 45 minutes it had taken us to get parked !!!!!! As you can imagine my husband wasn't at his happiest!!

Hi everyone
If you are looking for a furniture pack, take a look at www.murciafurniture.com, they have an excellent showroom on the C3319 towards Murcia on the right-hand side, 15 mons from site.
We are also due to complate in March 08, Natasha was very good and prepared a quote for us while we had lunch accross the road (at their expense).
They will modify the pack to meet your needs and when we requested, gave us an excellent discount.

Hi All
Just returned from Spain, discussed with Helder, he is now the guy in the service villa from Taray, he explains the LFO cannot be granted until the whole site is complete towards the end of the year.
Look on the positive side, talk to the residents on site whom are already enjoying their properties with FREE electric and water etc!
Why did we buy from Taray, good local company with proven track record, financially sound, visited other sites they completed in the area, I for one will be completing at end of March, have already viewed my penthouse in Block 6 which is finished inside.
I will post pictures including the open space area which is now being lanscaped, its looking great.
See you all in Spain end of March!

I have posted emails to our solicitors with the same questions but for some reason they will not answer.Any update would be welcome.......cheers David

Hi
I have been in block 6 it is practically complete, Taray have advised access will be possible from 10/02/08 for measuring etc. we are completing on 31/03/08.
If you need to contact Taray, the guy on site is Helder Sacro Beltran, tel. 659 89 84 16 he is in the Taray service villa on the front of site, can offer all types of additions, AC,TV, shower screens and was very helpful to us last week.
The site is looking great with landscaping now being done.
See you all in the sun soon!

Hi All,
We are also due for completion in Phase 5 in March 08, reading the recent postings it would seem that things are pretty well on time, does anyone have an Email address for Helder to confirm this please.
Also, does anyone who is now living on site have any info on the situation for telephone land line or satellite connections for broadband?
The only scary thing about completing at the end of March at the moment, is the poor state of the Pound against the Euro, it may pay to hold off a while in the hope it may improve.
Looking forward to getting out there,
Janet & Dave

Regarding furniture shops - we found a place called Masque Meubles with a very friendly assistant called Jose. It is on the main road right on a roundabout just south of Torrevieja. They do a whole range of furniture from basic furniture packages up to top end stuff. They do curtains, lighting, kitchenware, etc, etc, etc.
Recommended.

Hi
We are hoping to complete in March of this year. Just got back from a week staying on site and it was lovely - didn't want to come home. We found a great furniture shop at San Pedro del Pinatar - Punto Mobiliario five minutes before Dos MAres , opposite the ciroen garage. The lady in there Christine was extremely helpful and has rung a few times since we got back just to confirm everyhthing has been ordered. She spent hours looking for furniture for us within our budget and we are very pleased with the price and quality, so defiantely worth a visit!.
Also if anyone needs a Spanish mortgage , without the LFO Caja Murcia in the village will offer good deals to Taray customers and also Sharon a mortgage advisor who posts on eye on spain can arrange and she is very helpful.
Hope to be back in spain soon!
Jo

Hi Tom
The address is Avda. Artero Guirao 207 - San Pedro del Pinatar . Telf: 968 18 37 09.
Its open Monday - Saturday 09:00 to 21:00.
Go down the AP7 towards San Pedro del Pinatar, go towards the Dos Mares on your right, straight over roundabout, and its on your right hand side just past petrol garage.
They are extremely helpful - we went to the beach while they trawled the catalogues!!

Thank you Jo, for your vote of confidence! Pleasure speaking with you!
Just to clarify, yes, we do have lenders that will complete without the LFO However I would like to stress that we do not recommend this as there are many pitfalls, all of which have been discussed on various EOS forums. ultimately if a client is 'happy' / 'confident' to go ahead on this basis then we respect that decision.

I have asked our solicitor to clarify the situation regarding the Licencia de Primera Ocupación (LPO) - final licence - for the 31 March 2008 completion date we have on a Penthouse in Block 6. Her answers to my questions are as follows:
Your first question is: “Will the LPO for our property be in place by 31 March 2008?” Your builder has told me that your LPO will not be in place on your completion date.
Your second question is: “If not, has the LPO for our property been applied for?” Your builder has told me that they will apply for your LPO in April.
Your third question is: “When can we expect the LPO to be granted?” I have not received an answer to this question from your builder. I think that your LPO could be ready in May or June, but I can not give you any guarantee because this depends on the Town Hall.
I hope this information is helpful to others when planning for completion.
Diane
