Hi all,

Just joined here today as a member to see whats happening with our apartment, read your post Blanchard1975 regarding difficulties over mortgage.

I work as a mortgage adviser in the UK but fortunately our network has 4 or 5 oversea lenders panels offering I'm lead to believe access to nearly 200 different lenders, I have just registered to use these panels today and I will be looking at arranging our own mortgage shortly, I'll post an update in the next few days and let you all know how that goes.  Might prove useful to you other guys, being able to sort a mortgage through a uk broker?

Hi

I bought in block 5 in Porto Fino in April 2005.  I am Irish and love the area.

I am new to this game. This is my first time purchasing property abroad.  I find this message board a valuable place to get information and ideas .

Anyway now time to look for a mortgage.

I went through numerous UK and Spanish banks and brokers and thought the charges and the paper work involved to be ridiculous.

Some brokers even wanted me to pay their enormous solicitor fees involved in arranging the mortgage.

I ended up releasing equity on a property in Ireland and got a great rate from AIB without all the extra charges involved. As i do all my dealings through AIB, i didn't even need to go down the road of  getting a credit rating. ( I am not advertising for AIB. This is just who i dealth with)

My advice especially to anybody from Ireland is to look into getting the money at home versus Spain or the UK as they will save especially on the initial charges and don't be afraid to keep haggling over interest rates, Its you who will be paying it back at the end of the day.

Don't be shy about asking for interest only options , reprisal for x months to get you started etc. If you don't ask you will not receive

Hello there, might be worth taking a look at www.universalfinancial.eu the only problem using a UK broker is that as they're not local they cannot always get you the best deals. This company is quite small, it is family run but they have been in spain for a number of years and perhaps might be able to get a better deal than say someone who is in the UK?
