Pulled out of buying on Arenal golf in Benalmadena because of hold ups and lack of information. Also apartment position. But still interested in buying in Spain.Would like to hear opinions as to the good and bad points between these two developments. Any opinions as to location, amenities etc.would be appreciated.

Arenal Duquesa. First impression was scary because it is very close to the coast road (dual carriageway) BUT once you are in the complex the road could be a million miles away. It has no impact. It's because of the way the development is cleverly built. Plus, a five minute walk under the underpass and you are on the Port or beach. Again, the motorway feels like it's just not there. It's possible to have a week's holiday there and not need a car. Lots of restaurants, shops etc., all within walking distance. The development itself has a high quality spec. The planting and gardens are excellent quality. We had the chance to pull out and after we visited, we stayed in. On the negative side, the apartments are a tad small. The big plus though, are the residents. They are far and away the most superior type you can find on the entire Costa! (OK so that last bit's a slight exaggeration but hey, the rest is the truth). Hi Mlaw. Just pulled out of Arenal Duquesa 5 mins ago. Feel Relived! Bought way further up the Coast on the 'Mar Menor'. Exellent value 2 Bed Penthouse on Roda Golf Course. Lots of good deals to have. I really like Duquesa, but after visiting the ' Mar Menor area and watched it develop over the last three years, l decided Duquesa had to go. I think it is well worth considering other areas besides the Costa del Sol. With a new International Airport being built in the area and high speed trains linking major cities, the area is well worth looking into. l can send you some photos if you like. Jayne

Hi Jayne
Just had a look at Roda Golf Course it looks great.Just hope it does not go through the same problems and build times as Arenal. It is food for though.Maybe we should look further afield. If you have any photos other than the ones on there website I would appreciate if you could send them to me.
Thanks mlaw

All I will say is beware of a lack of infrastructure. The Costa del Sol is a little more expensive in terms of buying property but that is because all facilities are established. I agree other areas are developing nicely but how long will it take? And are you prepared to wait?

Hi, l bought off plan jan 2005, and the my apartment is already up and running. I got so much more for my money. The road and motorway network is excellent, and work has already started on the new lnternational airport at Corvera. There are new restaurants and facilities everytime i visit. But like everything only time will tell. Jayne
