Hi Jim & Joan,
Good to see someone posting to this site. Just waiting for the Licence is hard work! We bought the suit we wanted from British owned Imperial Furniture for 2000€ as well - I wonder if it's the same one as Sam lol! We bought some other furniture at A Benitez a Spanish owned store with a good range. We bought some lighting from them including fitting but as you say the lights are not all our taste. We plan to make a trip to Ikea in Seville for some other lights, glasses crockery etc once we get possession.

Hi Jim & Joan,
We also went with the lighting in our furniture package from Imperial though we did knock out certain items such as table lamps which we thought were poor value. Strangely they wouldn't do the lighting over the sinks in the bathroom for some reason so we bought items elsewhere for these areas. We looked at lighting in AKI in one of the Miramar parks near the main Miramar shopping centre in Fuengirola (or should I say Mijas costa) and we also looked at lighting in the big El Corte Ingles store which is very near it. There is good value in the Hipercor section of El Corte Ingles (bottom floor) but if you want to spend more go up the top floor and feast on all the lovely expensive tableware, cutlery etc.

All suggestions below are good. There are so many (British and Spanish) stores in the Mijas/Fuengirola area that it's hard to choose.
If you follow Gericom's suggestions and go to the Miramar area (it's in Fuengirola near the castle) have a look at Hogares as well. Lots of stuff to 'dress up' your basic furniture package.
For more contemporary and quite affordable packages (or just a few large items) have a look at Paula Monaghan's store. It's at the carretera Coin, not far from the large Corte d' Ingles. The other shops nearby are also worth a visit. Large english beds (the Spanish prefer smaller beds) are easily available in some of these shops.

Hi Everyone
We'd just like to say "Thanks" to Davmunster, Gericom99 and Max for their info regarding lighting. We can't wait now to go again and look at the lighting in the stores you've mentioned. This is one of the great benefits of a site like this as you can share information. Thanks again.
Look forward to meeting you.
Jim and Joan

Hello all, there is also a large store on the Coin road called 'sofa sofa' if anyone is looking for a suite they are very reasonable and will store it for free until ready to move in. If anyone likes 'IKEA' stores I passed the new store yesterday and it is coming along very well and at this rate they might even be open before we all get in. Martin

Hi Jim and Joan,
We are also going to go to furniture express for our furniture I saw what they had on the Internet and loved it, we have not been to the shop yet and we are interested to hear what you thought of the shop has it good quality and variety, were you happy with the service etc. Did you go for the package . I think we will go for the package depending on the price.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would let you know, that I bought all my furniture apart from my electricals, here in the UK and hired a removal company to take it all to Spain (2 weeks ago) and they are keeping it in storage in Malaga for me, only needing a few days notice to deliver. Everything went well and the guys were great, so if any members is very fussy like me and wanted to buy here, and send it over, just send me a message and I will give you more details, as I know some of you have thought about doing this. I will also say that after looking at packages in Spain and the quality, once I finished upgrading etc, It was working out very expensive, it has worked out very reasonable doing it this way, being able to choose everything we want and we have also been able to send Golf clubs, tools, clothes, and even Balcony furniture. I am off to Spain on Tuesday will inform on progress on DJ if any!!!!!
Regards Donna
