Not heard a word about shops...flying over in April will check them out then,  i wouldn't hold much hope, La Galera Park is having problems,  hardly anyone living there and complex un finished...

Just back from Galera Country Club/Park and little change at the shops. The bank opens in the morning and there's a cash machine, the home sales/letting/maintenance company are operating and that's it. The "English Supermarket is still "coming soon" with its windows papered over (no shop fittings inside). Surely not enough people in residence locally to support it. The Albayat Country Club is lovely. The Casona restaurant beside Christians does fab pizza, really authentic Italian style. I see the town hall has marked ALL the accesses to the beaches as public now (ie through Bahia Dorada and Buenos Noches). Still got drainage problems at La Galera Park so they have been digging up around the pools AGAIN. That's about it. Meant to fly home from Gib but EasyJet plane got diverted to Malaga because of cross winds (spectactular wing wobble viewed from departure lounge), so bussed up there from Gib. Got home 7 hours late.

Thanks for update,  i fly over this Fri for a week,  i hope the storms that are there have passed by...

Sad to hear nothing is done at shops, i finally thought things were improving...

I hope you made it home, 7 hours, ouch...

We have our residents meeting on sat 18th, then following sat we have gerneral meeting, i mightg even see if i can pop to your meeting to see whats what...

I was in Galera last weekend and although I didn't actually visit the shops not much seems to have changed. Perahps they are waiting for La Galera Park to become habitated, whenever that maybe?????

Looks like they'll be in for a long wait... I read that 45 per cent of new property in Spain is unsold. Glad we like it peaceful! Liz

It's not so much a problem not having a shop nearby, just means you have to by wine in bulk

 

Once the new Meracado opens just up the road,  you can pass by the Finca to our left,  climb the hillside and go down other side and you'll be there,                                             just don't shop to much :-)

Why have we got 2 message boards for Costa Galera/country club? It would be a lot better if they where amalgamated.Can eyeonspain sort this?

Ps Liz are you the only person on Galera Park? , it must be very lonley.

It sometimes feels like we're the only people (especially when the electricity goes off). We walk up the road through Costa G to the country club to feel the buzz! I think there's one Spanish family in residence as owner occupiers, a couple of "weekender" Spanish families who own houses, about four Brits ditto (I suppose that's us too, getting there when we can) and maybe 4 long lets. Plus a few holiday lets. Only one other EoS member. Re two Costa Galera forums: we had the same thing and I asked Justin to amalgamate the two Galera Park forums and he made it so that messages appear simultaneously on both which helps (but not pix). He'd probably do same for you. (I've also suggested that we have a sort of "all the Galera developments" forum so we can share info on shops/need for blue bridge to beach/ price of wine etc sort of chit chat. What do you think? )

Liz, I think one forum would be a good idea as I would imagine most of the 'local' issues will affect both developments especially price of wine etc. I'm visiting again May 16th so will see if anything has happened and report back to all.

Did you know that Estepona was one of only a few places in Spain to have a rise in house prices,  2.5% - would be nice if it was true...

Im back on May 9th,  don't expect to much to have changed...

What is the situation regarding a bridge? I nearly get run over every time i go for a walk to the beach.

Re bridge I understand our community presidents have to put in an official request to Estepona Town Hall...

It would be nice to get a bridge,  Andrew is right,  it can be like Death Race 2000 crossing roundabout...Maybe Gumer can help...

Still finding news about Estepona shopping centre being built but no inof on exactly where it is...

Regarding making a profit,  i guess it depends on how much you paid in 1st place and finding that buyer,  10 - 12% fees from buying take away a lot of the profit,  now CGT is only 18% and you can of set all fee's,  a small profit can be had, if not at least break even... if the Euro makes it to 1 for 1 with the pound, we will all make some.

If we can hold on to them for about 3 years i think Spain will get back on track ...fingers crossed...
