With reference to IKEA, we headed out also early on Sunday 26th to avoid the queues to find it desolate.  Been there so many times now have had the sat nav turned off.  I asked the Spanish man in the cleaning truck that was going round the car park and he told me IKEA is shut every Sunday as well as most of the commercial centre opposite.  We find a coffee shop open and sat there watching people pull up and drive off again.

We then headed for Leroy Merlin, Media Mart and Carrefour at Cartagena and that was shut too, nothing was open.  Even the Consum at Los Alcazares was shut.  It seems that the only place open is Dos Mares.  Next time I will ask before try.

For a day out also I recommend going to Cartagena and to visit the Museum which also gives you acess to the amphitheatre.  It cost 6 euros for adults and was a really good.  Even our 9 year old found it interesting.  There is also a small cinema which has a presentation in Spanish and English. It is opposite the tourist information office just down from the underground carpark and you can also get a free map which does help. I will post some pics soon.  There are quite a few nice Tapas places a bit further on into the town from the museum.

We are going to have to try visiting Cartagena again after our last week's disastrous trip there. We just couldn't find anywhere to park but in the end  spotted the underground parking. The attendant pointed out the lift to us, as I'm disabled and not able to climb steps. So, all excited, the three of us plus scooter got into the lift to go up the one floor. It went up, then stopped dead. There was a sign in Spanish saying to press the bell and that someone would be right there to get it moving again. Well, we pressed and pressed, each time setting off a loud, deafening siren but no one ever arrived. Fortunately we found our situation really funny. Eventually after much button pressing, my husband prised open the door to find out we were only about a foot lower than the ground, so we all ended up unceremoniously climbing out. This was much to the entertainment to the people sitting on a bench watching us, no doubt wondering what all the racket had been about!

After that shake up we decided to leave and go back to SC for a stiff drink or two. By the way, the attendant apologised but was most miffed that we refused to park the car parking charge.

Next time we'll try find a better place to park, although hubby has so far refused to step foot in Cartagena again.

because there are so many dog lovers on taray i thought i would post that this weekend at IFEPA in torre Pacheco is the big dog show and display etc!

Went to the horse one last year and it was really good. Its all the best of the best, along with stores, food, entertainment etc. basically a smaller version of the NEC in Birmingham!

With hundreds of dogs there this weekend  i hope they have a large supply of poo bags!

The 3 kings...... Cartagena has had a really good write up and Murcia city is supposed to be excellent also.

Did anyone go to the village one last year? How was it?

We decided on the 3 kings in the village in the end and we had a real good laugh!! There was a great turn out and was such fun when the kings were throwing all the presents and sweets into the crowd. I thought the sweets and toys were just for the kids but the parents were just as bad scrapping for all the goodies. I proudly caught a cherry chubba chub untill 8yetree headlocked me, took me down to the ground, snatched my cherry treat and ran off into the Rose and thistle. I will get you next time 8yetree just you wait and see!!!

On 8 yewtrees's video it looked like you was doing a bit of pushing yourself.

It looks as if you all had a great time and the kids looked like they enjoyed it too lol

No, I thought he was in a van on the motorway winking at me! Spitting image!

Another nice morning out was in Cartegena where you can go up the panoramic lift for just 80cents. Once up the top you get to roam with the peacocks, enjoy views over the port, the amphitheatre, an old bull fighting ring and Cartegena itself. There is a castle on the top you can go in also which is another 4 euros! If you fancy it I can tell you the peacocks love olives, as we set out our picnic one brave peacock ate more of our picnic then us, they are not shy at all and will eat from yr hand if your brave enough! Its a good CHEAP morning or afternoon out!

Does anyone know if the safari park at Elche has a train ride? Need to find a fun day including A TRAIN!!!!

Hi All

It has taken me about 30 mins to locate this thread and the info I was hoping for is not here - we are due over for 2 weeks on 19 june and my daughter wants to go to a water park - which water parks are best ? what are the prices? are there lockers or would someone have to be there to watch bags, clothes etc.

We are also hoping to go to Terri Mitica how long will it take to get there,  any ideas?

Any info appreciated

We went to an  aqua park today in torrivieja with friends! AQUA-PARK Ciudad Quesada Rojales. Took us 25mins from San cayetano!

Its not the biggest water park (Benidorm aqualandia is much bigger) but for us was just right. Also if you can get there before the kids break from school you will avoid all the queues. Today we didnt need to wait for anything straight up and down on all the rides which was brilliant and had a great day but when we went last August it was more waiting then sliding!

Adults 10euros

kids 8euros

Picnic is better as the restaurant is really expensive!

Terra Mitica is very good but better for older kids!

Tina,

Have you been to Aqua Natura Park in Murcia. http://www.terranatura.com/Eng/AquaMurcia/Ficha6.aspx?FrmCodA=6&FrmCodB=71&FrmCodC=84&FrmRegistro=1&FrmInicio=S

It looks like the same company and I think it's only down the C3319 towards Ikea.

We are hoping to go in the summer.
