property transfer tax percentage? 7% or 9%?

Hi,

Someone has told me that from 1st July or 1st August this year (not sure which month is starts) the property transfer tax goes up from 7 to 9%?  Is this correct and also is this for both 2nd hand and new properties?

No as far as I know it goes up to 8% fom the 1st of July & iva to 18%. Yes it's for both new & 2nd hand.

Guslopez - I have been confused here for some time also but this is what I believe the situation to be but I'm not 100% sure. It's a bit like a pubic holiday you never know until the day whether offices are open or not!

I came across decreto-ley 1/2010 de 9 de marzo and if I understand that correctly then from that date transfer tax on properties in excess of EUR400k and garages in excess of EUR30k is at 8% and that's now.

Other tax changes say that from 1st July IVA (VAT) will increase to 8% across the board but this does not refer to transfer tax which would still remain at 7% for properties below EUR400k.

All this refers to Andalucia - I don't pay any attention to what happens elsewhere.

the 8% applies only on the amount in excess of EUR400k/EUR30k as appropriate.
