Arroyo Hondo, Casares
The Comments |
Went to this restaurant the other night and it was lovely. The food was beautifully presented, tasted great and the service was really good. It's a bit out of the way but worth a drive. We like to find the little gems that are tucked away instead of the usual seafront tourist hotspots...(not that there is anything wrong with them, just our preference).

If I'm honest it wasn't the cheapest meal out we've had but well worth the money. The bill was just under €90 for 2 of us including drinks. We had a nice bottle of Rioja for 15 euros. Another restaurant we have visited a couple of times is Armstrongs. This is also slightly inland but not as far as Arroyo Hondo. We went for one of their entertainment nights which only €30 per head for a 3 course meal. They had a band on who were excellent. Friends of ours who were out on holiday went back for Sunday lunch too. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the Sabinillas/ duquesa area

We ate there a few months back and I have so say, it was excellent, but certainly not cheap.
It's been taken over recently by some expats who have transformed this venta into more of a gourmet establishment, but great place to go if you want a really good quality meal and service in a lovely setting.
I definitely recommend it.

Love this restaurant but prefer Venta Garcia just down the road and much more reasonable but same standard of food and service.

We have tried most of the ventas between the Casares roundabout and Casares village.....and there are quite a few. They are all very different and all worth a visit. La Forge was a lovely experience for Sunday lunch but if you go there you must book and make sure you have been to the cash machien first.....it certainly is not cheap......but it is nice for a change.
