Garden Centres, DIY stores etc in Albox/ Huercal-Overa Area?
The Comments |
Are there any, please, and if so, where? We're about to move to this area and need indoor furniture, building stuff, outdoor furniture, etc. Any ideas, suggestions gratefully received! Donna

On the road junc 535 to Vera is Alonso's garden centre and a bit nearer the town is Commercial Vera a builders merchants
A lot of local info is on the viva-almeria.com site

David, that is so helpful. Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. We particularly want a long wooden table for outside, and one of those round stone pedestal-type tables with benches that go round it, so if you see anything nice on your travels, do let us know!
Thanks again,
Donna

Alonso's garden centre as mentioned has a good selection of stone garden furniture, tables benches et al and from memory we bought a stone bench there. it must have been sensibly priced or i wouldn't bought it

There is a great garden/ antiques/ picture framing/ new furniture indoor & outdoor centre plus a cafe that sells really great food as nothing in the cafe is over 1euro (I think the cafe is the loss leader to get people in)
It is on the N543 just off the motorway passed Huecal Overa E15/A7 motorway signposted La Concepcion. google it.
It is a real treasure of a find and I shouldn't really be telling you about it as I have bought all sorts from there. It is called The Pink House and yes the house is pink!! Plants start from 1 euro.

There is a great little GC ("Organic") on the main road into Albox from the motorway on the left next to Longos ferreteria (Which you cant miss).
It is family owned and run, so they are not too greedy with prices. E.G. stone round table and three matching benches circa 300€ delivered (depending on how good your haggling skills are!).
Consider the weather here when buying anything wooden, without diligent regular treatment everything wood tends to pull itself apart with the extreme expansion/contraction, which over time adds to the cost considerably.
For DIY, there is the large 'Bricolage' unit at the first Antas turn from H.Overa direction. Again prices seem a little negotiable, and there is plenty there for the DIY enthusiast (although it is no 'Leroy Merlin').
Happy shopping.
