Being the old cynic I am, I am not ashamed to admit I loved it. Hasn't she got a beautiful smile? The strains of Jerusalem, even the UK National Anthem sounded marvellous in that setting. The choirboys were great, the whole occasion seemed wonderful and the crowds were magnificent.
What a pleasure to see others around the world taking joy in this occasion. The Irish Times and Irish Independent have it as front page news and are rejoicing in it which bodes well for Her Majesty's visit to the Republic next month. The New York Times, the Australian, Der Spiegel, El Pais and even Chinese newspapers are reporting on it and all put a positive slant on it. It was great on the telly but what an occasion it would have been to have been present or in Hyde Park. Even that lefty organisation the BBC seemed to take great pleasure in the day.
And, cynical head back on, just think how much income the occasion would have brought in to the country.
So, congratulations Your Royal Highnesses, and I'm glad you chose the uniform of the Irish Guards to get married in, so much nicer than that railway porters lookalike uniform they give you in the RAF.
Now, I wonder if they have enough points to move into a married quarter or will they have to go on a waiting list? Hope she likes magnolia paint!
