I do hope you get positive feedback on this project, María. What kind of student numbers do you have in mind?
Best wishes

No more than 15, and I would start with just first grade.
The character will be international, Catholic and with strong enphasis on human values.

María:
You may well find support for your project among the Irish population in Spain. I shall try to think of where you might direct your enquiries and let you know.

I don't know much about that part of the coast but on CDS numbers in private schools are way down with some by as much as 30% from peak numbers in 2006/7 and many have had to reduce teaching staff as a consequence.
Also I am mot sure religion is a good idea.
Also the Irish lost their religion when money came in the front door religion slipped out the back door but maybe they've found it again now.

Actually, at my son's school - Sotogrande International - the numbers are now apparently on the increase. Indeed there are plans to expand the school in the not too distant future.

Sorry, I live in Manilva, which I've always considered part of the Costa del Sol - but the school is admittedly in the Campo de Gibraltar area.

Are you Irish too, Faro?
One cannot generalise. Many Irish are still church-goers, some are not, some are quietly religious, or spiritual, even if they do not go to church. There are all kinds, the same as everywhere. I don't think it is a question of lost or found.
I suppose th ethos of the school is up to the founding members.

The reason why I think the school needs to have clear indentity and values is because that is what we all need: Lack of those are wiithin the deepest ,real roots of our current crisis and of every crisis.
Values we would be promoting are values for work, comittment, solidarity, honesty, transparency, truth, collaboration, risponsability, tolarance, pluralism.... that is my understanding of Catholic values. Nothing different to human values.
Of course when I say Catholic, I mean the Catholic understanding of religion that needs to be open to respect, human dignity, pluralism, freedom, social care, democratic values. Never as an imposition or a rigid code of conduct.
Anyhow, I can understand people not wanting to endorse any Catholic school, movement or institution: that understanding and full, deep respect of others´ views is part of my Catholic understanding ot Catholicism.
I do not want to arise religious discussions or battles. The idea of making the school Catholic is for me, as the promoter, very important but I fully respect whover thinks that is not necessary. They have their own freedom to promote whatever type of school they consider as the right one for society.
Cheers,
Maria

Maria,
The problem that you will have by making this a faith school based on the formal Catholic religion is that there are many of us who might share the values that you mention - you mention so many that we are bound to be in favour of at least some - but who wouldn't consider for a moment having our children educated by people who believe in a sky god any more than we would want them cared for by people who believe in the tooth fairy or Father Christmas. To those of us who are atheist that is a denial of intellect in what should be an intellectual environment. Add to that the scandals of sexual abuse by Catholic priests and the Vatican cover up and my advice would be to be silent on the subject of religion so that you don't alienate potential Protestant, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Humanist and atheist customers.

Dearest Jek:
I love Protestant,s Muslims, Buddhists, Hindues, Humanists and atheists as much or even more than I do love Catholic people.
The character formation curriculum of the center will be based on ecumenical understanding of the Faith, always respectful with rights that are at the base of society understanding of the most of us. Those gathered in the Universal declaration of Human Rights.
Would you join this?
