Wheelchair transport
The Comments |
Hello. My name is Steve and I would love to move to Spain and start my own business.
I wondered if someone could clarify a point for me. I am investigating starting a specialised disabled transportation service. I have 4 adapted vehicles in the UK and I am looking to bring one over to start a business here
My wife is a qualified carer so we are looking at starting a joint business in helping disabled people with transportation and care whilst they are in Spain on holiday
What qualifications or licences would we require?

It sounds like a good idea on paper, but knowing what a nightmare it is for others to get permissions, licences for things like minibus services, coupled with the present economic situation in Spain, I fear this will be very difficult for you

Especially bringing one over from UK. It would have to be adapted, lights changed to dip the right way and so on and modified vehicles seem to be rather difficult to pass the vehicle inspection. Plus which way does the door open? I know taxi licenses are very difficult (and expensive) to obtain as there is no free for all, simply a number of licenses issued and then it's dead mans shoes.
Does sound like a great idea but you would need to contact the local town hall regarding the license issues.

I am aware that the "SP" Servicio Publico plate is difficult to obtain, and like bobaol has said below the spanish MOT test "ITV", is very strict on any modifcations. Plus having a RHD car is not easy here when coming out of junctions onto the main road. I think trips to townhalls and trafico are in order then there is the expense of setting up as self employed. Not easy but good luck i.
