Long term rental in Spain
The Comments |
Hi
We are a mature couple from East Midland trying to find a house to rent near the coast in Spain from July till October. We need only 2 bedrooms,a garden for our dog and a pool. It seems to be realy hard to find something suitable, either because of the pet restrictions or because of the high price. Does anyone know about something?
Please let us know,thanks
Nora

Obviously you have picked the most expensive time to visit. Not just northern Europeans but many Spanish from Madrid and other inland cities head down for the summer. A lot of rentals stay empty throughout the year and owners put the prices up to cover costs, just like airlines and travel companies do at that time. What could cost 350 or 400 euros a month in winter could charge almost that per week in the summer. The dog may be a problem (some owners aren't keen on pets) but there seem to be plenty who bring them over. I don't know where you've been looking but the Costa Blanca is generally cheaper than the Costa del Sol. I know all the properties round us are either already booked or the owners are using them for at least part of that period. You could try holidaylettings.co.uk as they specialise for the UK market. Can't recommend them as I've never used them but a few people round here have. There's also ownersdirect.co.uk which maycut down a little on agency fees. Best of luck, it's forecast to be very hot this summer.

Hello Nora. We have a Cortijo in Andalucia Nr. the Town of Huescar. It is in a beautiful area and we have no objections to your dog. It is advertised in long term rentals on EOS. at E375 per month.ref.rp5178. Please have a look and let us know if you are interested. Regards Joan

If you were able to narrow down your preferred area, you could then find a Facebook group covering that area, and that would be fullof people who let out a spare house or two - avoiding agency fees. For example, my area is the Axarquía region of Málaga province, and on Facebook there is a group called the Axarquía Local Information group. There are so many lovely big rental properties available that the group has set up a subgroup for property rentals and sales. There is SO much available at the moment that you can make a sensible offer for monthly rent direct to the owner.
