Telefonica: The most useless organisation on this planet. A Spanish number keeps ringing us from 911775734 every few minutes. They don't speak and I've even tried to ring them back to tell them to stop it, but they just say they don't speak English and put the phone down. It appears to be an office but there is no sound of a fax when they ring. I even fed English into Google translate and played it back to them in Spanish. They put the phone down. So I rang the English speaking Movistar who, when it finally was working properly and they actually answered, the stupid, rude, unhelpful b***h at Movistar said they can't do anything and told me to ring the police. So I said cancel the phone, she said they can't do that!!!! They are a b****y joke. How on earth do they make a profit and stay in business? They are the most non customer friendly, anti-English bunch of incompetent nincompoops I’ve ever come across.

Next time this number rings you say "Hola" hopefully they should answer back, then blow a whistle loud and clear down the mouthpiece, after one or two shots of this i don't suppose you would get to many calls back.

just keep them on the phone as long as possible.
never swear down the phone because its a serious crime if the person at the other end is female.
but do things like leaving the phone by the side off the hook when you answer it or just saying que? que? all the time
they will get the hint

But that's just it. They say nothing when I say Hola. I don't swear, then after a few seconds the line just goes dead. If it was a fax there would be a sound, but there's nothing, not even any background noise. When I ring them myself I can hear a busy office.

Now it sounds like what we get a lot of in the UK, the switchboard phones you, you pickup and can hear noise in the background, then the line goes dead, the automatic switchboard phones you but they have no operators / salesperson etc to answer you so it drops of, it happens all the time but theirs never a person to answer you.
I used to get quite a few each week, though seemed to have dropped of lately have to admit.....Or is it since I gave my girls who answer the phone a sixpenny whistle.

I have googled the number too and it seems that it is notorious and has something to do with Bank of Santander. What a disgrace they are. Between them and Telefonica God help Spain in the economic world stakes!

So many problems with Spanish mobile companies. Wouldn't touch a contract with a barge pole. For low usage like me a smart phone and VoIP using Hits pay as you go works fine.

I remember seeing the whistle down the phone thing on an episode of Neighbours many many years ago. if I remember right, the hoax caller ended up deaf in one ear. Maybe your downvoters watched neighbours, haha!
My partner has an Al Campo clubcard and from time to time they call her trying to sell her insurance cover for her card. Before she speaks to an agent, she usually receives many calls for days before with nobody on the other end of the line. It seems like companies have dialling machines that just call and call regardless of whether or not there is an agent available to take the call. It is a real pain in the backside. What Spain desperately needs is the watchdog system that the UK has, keeping check on all large companies.

We also had terrible trouble cancelling our account with Telefonica when we moved back to the UK. We paid for maybe a year when we weren't there, because it is incredibly difficult to cancel contracts in Spain. Nevertheless, you should persist - maybe others have good advice on this - as, at the moment, it would be better if you had no 'phone, rather than be pestered all the time.

Now I have found out that the company still ringing every day is Bank of Santander. I don't have an account with them. I don't have a loan from them and I don't owe anyone any money anywhere, anytime, anyhow!
Now they are using 2 other numbers to ring also:-
911773215 and
912700894
If you have the same problem put then Lista.com

Well I give up. The total number of phone lines we are now being harassed by are 5:
911 775 734
911 773 215
912 700 894
911 775 731
912 700 894
all from Santander, so we have had no choice but to call Telefonica to take the phone out. Oh by the way we called them on the same number as befor 1004 and this operator agreed to remove the phone for us. Also, Santander haven't even bothered to reply to our complaints. Twp big companies with the morals of gittersnipes.

Here's a first! I'm going to praise Telefonica!
The nuisance phone calls I wrote about have stopped and telefonica rang to ask if I still wanted to be disconnected and gave me a number to ring once I'd decided. I rang and spoke to a lovely lady called Alea, who went that one step beyond to help me. I told her that now the nuisance calls had stopped I would keep the phone. She apologised for the bad service I'd received from the other operator and told me that I could block my number if I want to ring someone and I don't want them to know it's me, by dialling *93# and then dial the number I want. To block a number from ringing me I dial *93*the the number#. The service takes takes 8 hours to be activated after my call to her, costs €1 per number (up to 10 numbers) and the number to ring if you have a disconnection request is 1005318. When I got the feedback call from telefonica I rated her with a 10. She made me a happy customer and changed me from someone who was calling Telefonica names and wanted to get rid of them, to someone who is now impressed. Well done Alea.

I have not been contracted with Telefonica for many years, but I can say that during the years that I was, I had no complaints against theml.
I am now with Jazztel. I get a few ‘cold calls’ which of course have nothing to do with Telefonica, but to having a telephone. I probably get less calls as I am Ex-directory.
