Four foot pedals - no handbrake.

Four foot pedals – no handbrake.
I just bought a Kia Carnival (Sedona) and got a shock when I went to put on the handbrake during the test drive only to find that there wasn’t one. The parking brake is foot operated to put on and a hand level is used to take off. It is such a change of approach that I get quite nervous on hills in case I roll forward or back while I am fumbling to put it on.
How have others found this type of foot operated handbrake? Grateful for any practical advice.

i had never driven a 4 pedal car and ended up stuck in the middle of the street when i took a testdrive in a mercerdes
i just couldnt figure out where that dambed handbrake was for the hillstart
they gave me the keys and said dont crash it, so i was on my own.
that was 10 years ago and i have been driving the same car for all that time without ever thinking about it.
you should be fine after a day or 4

Had Mercs for years with these handbrakes and they are a bit cumbersome until you fully get used to them.
Hill-starts, I found the best way is to stop if you have to on the footbrake, keep the footbrake on and apply the foot operated handbrake..Left foot obversely in the uk models...when ready balance the clutch and pull the lever when ready to pull away.
Sorry if this sounds like teaching you to suck eggs...On a lighter-side lend your car to someone, stand back and watch them work out where the handbrake is.

My car only has 2 foot pedals, and to date I've never used the handbrake (which apparently is really bad for the automatic clutch) For I am a bear of very little brain, and too many pedals and levers confuddles me!
