It seems to be the flavour of the month to have Spanish compliant bonds (in a wrapper?) in order to avoid Spnish inheritance tax, more now that IHT allowances have been abolished in some areas.

Has anyone got some basic info on them.I don't want a consultation with a professional as yet, just info including draw backs such as  high? admin charges adviser's commission, risks etc .

Spanish compliant bonds (in a wrapper?)

I think the other name for that is a SCAM.

I went to a ‘professional’ here in Spain for personalised advice,  and that was the very clear impression I came away with.

Surely they are international investment bonds, .what makes you think they are a scam? Some very well known insurance companies do them

I may have mis-remembered but I am pretty sure I was left with the understanding that what was being 'offered’ as suggested by the propaganda, was not what, as at first sight, it appeared

johnx- what would you consider the best way to avoid inheritance tax, that doesn't have disadvantages;there just doesn't seem to be a way round this.

Campo:-   what would you consider the best way to avoid inheritance tax,

Not to have any assets is, I believe, the only way to be sure your inheritors will not incurring IHT bills.

Or in other words, I am still looking for the, 100% for sure, correct answer. Unfortunately the financial advisers have not convinced me yet that they know what they are doing, other than in the field of how they will get a part of my assets, for advice (which may be worthless)
