SPAIN IS DEFINATELY CHEAPER TO LIVE
The Comments |
Bobaol i.ve just seen what you wrote in 2007- you cannot choose where to pay your tax. if you live permanently in Spain, unless you have a crown pension which has to be taxed in the UK, you have to pay income tax on all your income, including pensions, interest on uk bank accounts etc in Spain, not a choice- a legal obligation

Yes. camposol, I did. However I have changed that on another thread (can't find it at the mo) as I was misled by advice back then. Since living in Spain I have paid income tax in Spain on all income except my Forces pension. In fairness to the advisor, I think back then the Spanish tax man didn't chase up people but, since 2009, have cracked down on it. Oh, and as an aside, I actually make on it as my Forces pension is not taken into account for my Spanish taxes (even though it is declared but the P60 shows that tax has already been paid) and the other income I get is under the threshold in Spain which actually saves me £90 a month to the UK taxman who added both lots together for tax purposes. Sometimes it pays to do things properly.
