Lost UK TV channels
The Comments |
Hi can anyone advise me, I live in the UK but spend a lot of time in costa del sol with my elderly mother who likes to watch the uk channels. I want to know the cheapest alternative to getting these channels without the internet. Thanks

I have been told that the Russians are launching a satellite called Astra g2, delayed launch until July - August. This I believe will have a wide enough range to pick up British TV in Spain.

thanks for your reply seashells. I know I sound ignorant so that means I have to take my exisiting sky dish down and replay it with the Astra g2. Thanks Maggi

No, your dish will need to be re positioned. What you will need to do for now is every now and then go on the web and type in Astra 2g, see if it has been launched or if there is a date for launch. As soon as you know it's launched, get a guy in to re position dish.

I see no reason, and have not read anything authoratitive, to suggest that UK free-to-air channels will be broadcast on a pan-european beam from this or any other satellite when they have a UK spot beam available. By all means wait and see what transpires, but I wouldn't hold you breath!
