Tadd1966, what do I call the part of India that gained indipendence in 1947, I know that it begins with P, but I wouldn't wish to be classed as being a racists for mentioning would I?

I see your point but in general if you refer to someone by their nationality (i.e. romanian , pakistani, spanish etc) as a way of differentiating them from others it could be (and often is) deemed to be racism
the context of this migrant issue claiming benefits could be so interpreted if we use this to discriminate against them

Racist definition:- (.http://www.thefreedictionary.com/racist)
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
Thus saying something which is factual should not be construed as being racist :- .
e.g. Some Asians are very good at maths.
or
13 members of a Somali sex gang members who abused and raped British girls aged 13-17 are jailed for 40 years between them
However saying for example:- all Irish are drunkards , would be racist.
PS I have Irish and UK Nationality

Our Irish side were mainly drunkards, including my great grandmother and my great uncle who was a war hero, but having said that I'd have to be pissed to attempt to hold Arnhem bridge.

According to latest economic figures (PMIs from Markit and the like) certain EU countries are starting to recover well - Ireland, Holland and yes, Spain. It's the old guard of France, Italy and Germany who are stagnating. Looking like 2015 could be a bumper year for Spain if trends continue... of course it may be connected to elections next year!
From the FT Fastlink:
"While unemployment remains eye-wateringly high, there are mounting signs that the Spanish economy is on the mend, with exports solid and even the property market flickering back to life this year. "
But what will the unemployment figures show us tomorrow?

intersting report from the telegraph I can't vouch for its valdity as it is teh media after all
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/immigration/11255425/How-much-do-immigrants-really-claim-in-benefits.html
What is appears to show and confrim my views it is NOT the problem of EU (or any other) migrants but the amount of benefits claimed by UK citizens and the root cause is the benefit system itself

I can't get a seat belt exemption letter from my GP practce, albeit suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Reading between the lines, if they supplied me with one it could open the door to a plethora of benefits. We live on the border of The Peak District National Park, had we lived on a sink housing estate the answer would no doubt have been different.

are you implying benefits are now subject to a post code lottery?

I can't get a seat belt exemption letter from my GP practce,
You must have had a clear reason as to why you were refused, and you are entitled to seek permission from another GP if you didn't agree with this reason..
I should think one of the main reasons these certificates are refused is down to the health and safety laws these days, and of course I am sure every GP wants to prove the reasons in court as to why they gave one out should any accident happen, and the victim / victims family sue the GP for negligence.

The basic test for rheumatoid arthritis is the ability/none ability to arc your unbent arms over you head and touch hands, I've never had a problem doing this. However attempting to touch the small of my back with my left hand is an impossibility due to a severely impaired shoulder, also my right hand has the appearance of a vertebrae emenating from the bottom of my little finger to my wrist bone, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, my rheumatoid factor currently stands at 75.
My consultant of rheumatology, who is a top doctor as well as being a double right guy, tells me that my GP is attempting to balance the best of two evils, however I swore to him that I would only use the exemption when accessing the seat belt lock was impossible.
As for the post code lottery, I used to pay a guy cash in hand to do my heavy gardening jobs, he was as fit as a butcher's dog and the recipient of more benefits than you could waive a stick at, he resides on a sink council estate and assured me that he doesn't know anyone who can afford to take a job.
Awaits admonishment for single handedly admitting to furthering the black economy.

Who are you meaning when you say the forums self appointed know all's concerning seat belt laws, because so far you are the only one that mentioned "Seatbelts".

This above is your post. As you should be able to see to gain sympathy it really was you, and only you, that made mention of "Seat-belts"

Back on topic now the crayons have been put away.
Yes, I would have some misgivings about UK leaving the EU as I quite like living in Spain and want to continue doing so. Some things may change and some things may not. We've had many treaties regarding tax, healthcare and non-visa travel before but they were either when neither country was in the EU, when one was in the EU and when both were in the EU. We haven't had the situation where one member country has left so the EU may actually dictate future terms.
Depending on which your preferred newspaper is, anywhere between half a million and three million jobs depend directly on EU membership. Even the smaller number would be disastrous.
Some of the rules have to change (and don't believe the bendy bananas bit or little old ladies going to prison for using pounds and ounces nor even the EU being responsible for ECHR) but I also think UK should start applying the rules like other countries do.
I know we could redo all the treaties again but it would mean renegotiations with 27 countries. If UK can't even follow the rules when they are laid down in one place, what chance do we have following 27 different ones?
Once it is explained fully what the pros and cons for either are then we will have the opportunity to see what it will mean for those of us living in other EU countries. Until then I have a feeling it is all guesswork mixed in with some wishful thinking.
