All that time in Spain and you never learned to read the labels? I happen to have a tub of coleslaw from Mercadona in the fridge. I just looked and the label gives all the information you would need with salt, sugar, water, potassium, several types of vitamins all clearly marked. And that weird place you lived in in Spain where you couldn't get health supplements. Even in our small town we have two health food shops and all the farmacias sell the stuff as well.

The Sean bass  and breaks are form farm, it's total different taste. In uk there is no farm on Sea bass.

The hamburgers in Aldington and lldl here are pure rubbish, full of salt, in uk there do not put salt.

The quality it's much better, and it's not just me saying it.  Very disappointed of spain , one lemon I paid  60 cents, I can buy in uk for half price, 20 pence.

Now you really are talking rubbish, weston. I will quote the Independent

Most sea bass eaten in the UK is farmed hundreds of miles away in the Mediterranean, with Greece and Turkey the largest producers. According to the latest statistics, we ate 8,700 tons of wild sea bass in 2005, compared with 80,000 tons of the farmed variety. In large open-sea cages, the fish are grown to a specified size and fed on wild fish ground into pellets.

Still saying there is no "farm on sea bass" in the UK?

Why buy burgers from Aldi or Lidl? We bought a bag of lemons from the Zoco market this morning. They are not Spanish as it is out of season (from S Africa) but 10 lemons for €1.50. Come October we will simply pick them off the tree but the markets will be virtually giving them away.

No idea what your motive is for posting this rubbish.

Yes tteedd, a wind up for sure, most likely someone who has found this forum and thought they would give it a go and see the reactions, or possible someone who really has moved to Spain and suddenly found out that they all speak in a different tongue to the one they left behind, thought everyone spoke English, the money is weird    nothing like £ S P, and not many grey skies.

I dont shop, cant do everything but tell you this, I don't think you ended up in Spain, somewhere else it has to be, because it sure as hell ain't the Spain I visit.

I am just watching 'Country File' on the TV and the presenter has just said that if you want to buy English food double check all the labels because you cannot presume that all the food is home grown now, the tomatoes came from Brazil, sweet potatoes USA.....All freshly picked today of course.

But baz, you have to go back to UK. You can live like a king from Tesco on 20 quid a week if you shop between 6 and 7 pm so I'm told.

Just because people dont know how to shop in uk , it's not my problem,  every thing it's cheaper apart from  cigarettes and spirits.

Even cioccolate are much cheaper in uk, here bananas are highly priced  ,incredible the nation it's just a few miles from Africa. You cannot afford, them to buy, in uk are dead cheap.

Foraging through bins at the back of Tesco is, I must admit, not how I do my shopping. Looks like you don't know how to shop in Spain. Please, we await with bated breath, how much do you pay for your bananas here compared to UK? If you can't afford a banana, should you really have moved to Spain?

Oh, and they are 99 cents a kilo in Carrefour which is about 83p. Please, without bin diving at the back of Tesco, tell me how much they cost in Tesco? (Don't bother, I've looked it up and it's between 80 and 90p a kilo depending on type).

By chocolate I take it you mean Cadbury's? A three pack of Nestle milk chocolate cost €1.30 in Consum, a large bar of hazelnut chocolate in Aldi at 89 cents. Sounds awfully like you definitely don't realise some of us live in Spain and have sussed out the rubbish you are posting. Why? Lord only knows.

Everything you have come up has been pooh-poohed, especially the "living like a king on 20 quid a week from Tesco".

Just to show I'm not making it up, go into carrefour.es and put bananas (there's a new Spanish word for you) in the "buscar" (search) box. Up come bananas at 99c a kilo. (Or just click bananas below).

'cioccolate'? - never buy it myself - unless you mean 'chocolate'?

45 years as a lorry driver, I always enjoyed a KitKat with my morning cuppa, but stopped buying them when they reached 65/70 pence a bar - couldn't justify nearly 15 bob for a chocolate bar (it's an age thing, you know!)

Mercadona sells 5x5 finger bars for 1.80eu - around £1.30ish. Same outer pack, same wrapper, made in York just the same, too!

I rest my case, your honour.

Steve

Funny thing that - I do suffer with gout, but I keep it at bay with medication.

Oh, and I refer you to my previous post ref BRITISH chocolate - made in York - you got the gouts to disprove that?

Are they cheaper in UK as well? Well, if I knew what a scummer was.

Oh, and as per Sten46 post. Kit Kat in Tesco (not sure how much between 6 and 7) is £1.34 per 100g. At Carrefour it is 92 cents per 100g. Look on the web if your memory is failing.

mmm

not sure on this one:

Tesco online has prices of 90, 80, and three at 60 per 100gm depending on size and offer. But I guess the more popular sizes are the ones that cost more.

Best I could find anywhere else in UK  65 per 100gm.

So 92c  becomes about 78p per 100gm. That's probably good going if they are made in the UK. They may get cheaper in Spain if the drop in the pound has not worked it's way through yet.

Only ever seen them remaindered at Tesco's when they are out of date or damaged.

Forgetting, of course, that a couple of months ago it would have been about 67p per 100g. Unless you think the Spanish should reduce their prices now the pound has dropped.
