These folk tested theirs before buying, I think.  Scrufty, you go ahead & test any you want. (With or without a screen !)

Well, OK, I have another question to ask. No testing required, but maybe a tape measure (am I going to wish I hadn't said that?).
Like Samson, I have heard Spanish beds are shorter than English. Standard English length is 6'6" or, as quoted to me at The Bed Shop, 200cms, which is fractionally longer.
What is the length of a standard Spanish bed? Morerosado, how long is your Ottoman? And can you get Spanish beds in 180cm width? Sorry folks, that's three questions.

I think the standard length is 180 (might be for a single). You can get 190 but makes it difficult for the linen, but for a double get 200 - linen in Dunnes no problem.

Yes you can get spanish slatted uncomfortable beds in 180 width.

For visitors - well you wouldn't want them to stay too long, would you?

A standard single Spanish bed is 90cm wide x 190cm long. Other widely available widths are 80cm (z bed). 135cm (double) and 150 (king). 200cm length is also widely available. Standard Spanish bed linen is 190cm long, but is also available in 200cm.

I hope this helps.

El Corte Ingles have a great selection of ottoman style beds at similar prices to the independant shops.   The two main brands that appear everywhere are "Pikolin"  and "Flex", both of which are available in my local furniture store in Sabinillas.  The quality is very high although they are not cheap.      http://www.elcorteingles.es/

IKEA also do a budget version called the "Alsarp" available in 90 & 140 x 200 at only £100 & £120 (+legs & mattress) in the UK.    IKEA beds are really comfortable if you avoid their cheapest mattresses and use a mattress pad. We bought 5 beds in IKEA Bordeaux for our French house and everyone who stayed commented on the comfort despite 24 hour church bells 30 metres away !!

Jon

Hi Plexx

You asked me about my ottoman bed. Just to say that I enquired by email to The Bed Specialists where we bought ours, on the CB. They asked me to look at the label on my bed in Spain & let them know so they can see if it's still being manufactured (after two years) & if available on the CDS too. I had to wait till we went back to Spain & almost did my back in dragging the bed away from the wall (things I do for this forum ) I will post their answer when I get return mail.

However, if you're still looking, the label on our bed has this on it so make a note & you should be able to enquire yourself.

MODELA PARIS 150 x 200

Scrufty....... how did you do regarding a bed ?

Just thought i give you all a update on what we ended up doing reagrding the beds.

We found the ottoman type beds that  "more" refers to, we was able to purchase bases in english sizes so opted for two singles and a english kingsize (150 x 200) we purchased these in spain. We then bought our mattreses in the UK and had them shipped over with some other stuff we were sending anyway. The reason we got the mattreses in the UK is because i am a member of Costco and they had an offer on for 18% discount of there already discounetd member prices. Because we have the same mattress at home we knew we were buying a very good quality and very comfortable mattress.

i think its difficult when shopping for things like mattrese that you make your decssion in about 15 minutes yet you spend a quarter to a third of your life using one. These items are all being delivered next week so i will let you know how we get on.

just been let down on some of our other furniture deliveries though, that were also meant to be arriving next week.

Morerosado hope your back is Ok and hpe you get a good repsonse from your supplier. In the meantime, we have seen a lovely Ottoman at The Bed Shop in Estepona. It is 150*200 (also available in 190 length) and the make is Relax. And the price is about 1250 euros. Any comment on that??.
