@windtalker. "I take it you are aware that the southern Irish passport will not get you free health care in the EU ... unless you have paid into the Irish DWP system for a minimum of 15 years"
This implies that Irish citizens who have not paid into the system for fifteen years cannot apply for an EHIC. How do youngsters manage? I am surprised if this is true....but live and learn.

Windtalker ... so if I get a Irish passport, I will still have the benefits of the UK passport. UK EHIC type of cover .

newworld I wouldn't advise it. At the end of the day the 90 day rules apply to the person, not what passport they hold

newworld..I take it you are going to keep your British passport as well as you new Irish passport ...if this is so then you have nothing to stop you from applying for the new UK (GHC) after January the 1st 2021 ..if you get asked for your passport when you are using the (GHC ) then make sure you show them the British Passport as the Global Health Card is only applicable to UK residents.

Wind talker yes I sold my villa, they held 3% back . But when they find out I am buying again I think they will come asking for more money, because on paper it looked like I made money. So yes I am buying a penthouse apartment on the same resort, unbelievable price . So yes I start again as I sold most of my furniture etc . But looking forward to starting again.

Jarvi.....newworld - If you need to apply for citizenship it costs 278 euros. A passport if you are an Irish citizen is 75 euros plus 15 euros for postage, so your assumption at 90 euros for a passport is correct, it's the citizenship that costs a lot. So am I looking at the 278 fee . I am English ( with a uk passport) my mum is Irish, so this is my route to getting a Irish passport, 278 not cheap .

newworld - you said that your Mother was Irish so you don't need to apply for citizenship, you are automatically an Irish citizen, so your cost would be 90 euros, however your son would need to apply for citizenship which entails the extra fees
