End of the Lisbon Treaty

Oh well!

Looks like the Irish have voted 'NO' during their referendum, so it looks like the Lisbon Treaty is dead in the water.

What a shame!

I'm surprised that the Irish went against the EU.  Considering they were one of the poorest countries in Europe until the EU grants and subsidies came pouring in so that they are now in the top 2 wealthiest countries, you might think they would have gone along with it.  However, good sense has prevailed which just shows how badly formed legislation will get found out by the people. It's probably the reason the UK was not allowed to vote as it would have shown up the hidden agenda these (mainly) unelected commisars are trying to foist on us.  I have nothing against the EU in principle (apart from the very undemocratic way it runs and the almost cavalier approach to spending our money - witness no accounts signed off for many years) but you would think these professional bureaucrats would get things right from the beginning.  Only problem now is that they will probably throw the treaty back to the commisars who will rewrite the rules and force it on us all, anyway.  I do object to referendums (referenda?) because they keep having them until the government gets the result they want.  Have you noticed that, if they want a yes vote, they will have referendum after referendum that may say no but as soon as they get the yes they want then the whole system stops?
Oh, I forgot.  I also don't like the EU because they gave the Kinnock family a fortune for being failures.

I have just heard on the news that the current President of the EU has said that the Irish voting no does not mean the treaty will not continue . So now it's make your own rules up time?

The Irish politicans are in shock, they cant believe we Irish did not do what we were told!!! 
Now they are talking about Lisbon mark 2...here we go again. 
Whats not to understand about the simple word NO. 
This was not a vote against Europe, Ireland as was said earlier has benefited greatly from membership of the EU, but it was a vote against a federal government, with faceless unelected representives making decisions about our lives and our childrens.
