HELP....Advice on TDLT
The Comments |
Is this something an English couple would be allowed to do ?
Me & my partner are 35 and 33 and both unfortunately are unable to have children. We are planning on moving to Spain next year and wondered what the laws were in relation to adoption. Any help / advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi - I managed an assessment team in fostering and adoption in the UK till I came out to Spain a few months ago.
Why don't you try to adopt in the UK and then bring the child out with you? There is always a desire to place a child with parents of a similar heritage so you would be at a major disadvantage in Spain, as well as having to deal with the extensive red tape in a foreign language. It can take a year to get through an assessment, or even longer, so I would encourage you to explore your options as quickly as possible.
If you want any more personal advice then send me a PM.
All the best

Rules depend on if the adoption is national or international. For healthy or handicapped children and it is regulated by the regional governments.
I guess Susan will like an article on that for her magnificient Women in Spain.
