Yes!
I can, what is about curry that we ALL love?
Here we are in hot........ hot.............Espania ...............and a curry is in the offing!
(Sorry Karensun if I am letting my vapours drift into your apartemento!)
A week without a Madras and I get withdrawal symptoms!
What I can't understand is why eating out in a curry house in Spain is more expensive than a Chinese Restaraunt.
In the Uk, they are about the same price....................
Any ideas peeps?

Currys seem to be a very English sort of thing (apart from the Indians that is!!). I have noticed that there are not many Indian restaurants abroad, France, Germany, Italy. I suppose if you haven't got the competition you can have your prices that little bit higher? Don't like them too hot myself, but my Grandad was born in India and spent a lot of his time there and eventually joined the British army to serve in Burma. He used to eat a curry that I couldn't even look at and he judged how good it was by how much he had to mop his head  . He was bals, so osometimes it was like a waterfall  .

I love a hot.......... hot curry, am not bald, but my hair has been wet with sweat since we arrived!
I am sure I was Indian in another life, I love curry!!!
Just wish my hair would dry!
But if it did, maybe I would be bald>>>!!!!!

I know what you mean Fibbs. Curries are way more expensive than chinese here.
The curry houses here are always packed with English. You don't see may Spanish in them, but they are very popular, mainly with brits on holiday!
I can't go a week without a curry either. We're blessed with a really good one nearby.
I't half nine in the morning and now I'm pining for a curry!

Yea - It is one of my bug bear's (sp ?) too - why are curries so expensive in Spain when chinese food is so cheap - they bascially have the same ingredients meat, rice, vegetables etc ??!!!!
I actually challenged my local curry house owner one night re this (after sampling some of his delightful house wine !!!) - his reply was that the spices were more expensive !!! which is bull as you can get most of them from the local market or specialist spice shops etc.
Anyway - a few months after this he started doing a special Menu del Dia for 5.95 euros so it must have gone in a little. (For those in CB this is Mr Singh's by La Marquesa golf course - although the quality is not excellent.)
I tell you what if you could get a curry house to do a good quality all you can eat buffet (a la chinese Wok style) they would make a fortune !!!!! Anyway know any near Rojales !!! I know there is one in Via Park (Guardamar) but the food is very poor quality (or was last time I went !!).
Like you guys I love my curry but simply do not eat it as it is too expensive especially compared to chinese.
Unfortunately it is a simple case of the indian restauranters ripping off the Brits by charging UK prices. So come on you curry house owners please do an all you can eat buffet similar to the chinese Wok Buffet and you will make a killing - guaranteed.

Sheriff, we both love a great hot curry too. We have eaten at the buffet one on the outskirts of Guardamar (Mother India) & thought it  terrible, not to mention the decor, just like eating in a warehouse ! 
We've heard excellent reports about the Indian in Quesada at the top of the main road. It's called The Spice Hut. It has two separate kitchens, one for meat, other for vegetarian cooking so vegetarians are very well looked after.
Has anyone here tried that one ? They used to have one by the same name in Torrevieja but now that's closed. You can buy spices from the restaurant as well as where they had their restaurant in Torrevieja, as I understand from chat on other forums.

We went to the Spice Hut last Friday, the food was excellent, you can have it as hot as you are mad enough to. you only need to ask. For me, as it comes is ok.
The Himalayan on Quesada is also good but nat as good as the Spice Hut.
By the way, be carefull with food with too much Chlli.
A friend of mine in the UK is just recovering from problems with growths in his throat which is thought to have been caused by years of eating spicy food that would burn the troats of any sane person. Glady, after quiting the heavy spice he is getting better.

Well, our home made Madras went down a treat...well two actually, as the hubby is a veggie, there were 2 pots on the go!
Made our little apartment steaming hot heat wise, then nice and hot taste wise!
We did see the Indian Buffet called Spice Hut in Torre More.
They had a 6.95 menu del dia, but when we next passed, intending to try it out, it had gone! Drat!
So for now, I will stick to doing the good old Pataks home made curry (cans of sauce which we brought from the UK @50p each buy 2 get one free............ as they are 3.5€ per can in Spain!!!) Ouch!

YES! You can eat a hot curry in Spain ....
As long as you have at least six ice cold beers at hand and are within 'walking-whilst-cheeks-clenched' distance of the 'facilities'

as far as i know, the hot spices in curry were originally there to cover the taste of rotting food in india. Due to the heat, they couldn't keep meat fresh long enough. If that's true, i'm suprised curry never took of in southern Spain where they must have had similar problems?

For anyone interested we've just shopped at Asda & Patak's Madras curry sauces were 2 for £1. They were classed on the front of the can as "medium" !!! This message was last edited by morerosado on 7/23/2008.

I remember reading that, about why they made curry in India, too. I just wonder whether it's a myth or fact...
Especially when you consider many Indian people are vegetarian...
But I can't eat curry anywhere - Britain or Spain (it's not a pleasant experience...). Which is a shame, as the thought of a spicy curry followed by several long, cool cervezas sounds pretty good right now!
Still, there's no point in wasting the cervezas is there...?

 Have you tried the Patak's curry paste that is what I use brilliant and last's ages we have vindaloo and madras, you can make it as hot or mild as you like depends what you put into it we love curry so I have experimented a lot. Pat

Spice reminds me of Mexico (those hot chillies from Latin land)
I love my spices though... Hotter the better, just need someting brisk to down them with.
