Digenius WARNING

Two days ago we purchased a Digenius box with hard drive from the shop at the side of the Park of Nations in Torre. It cost 290€ and the reason we bought that one was because we wanted to have the facility to record more than one programme on different chanels at different times if we go out. The man in the shop said that was the best ( except for the Nokia which was much more expensive ). He said we could change the language and the instructions were in English.
Today we tried to set up the didgi box. It would not allow us to change the language and continues to flash on our TV screen in german. We could not configure it as we do not understand German.
After trying for some considerable time to sort it out, we drove to Torre at about 5.30pm. We explained to the man and he fetched another Digenius box and plugged it in....of course it came up in German. He massed about for half an hour and then said he had to download some software onto the box. An hour later he suggested we go for a coffee while he finished sorting it out, so we did.
When we returned he had gone home and the other person in the shop said although he had got some English language the box would only accept a few chanels from Astra 2 and they were NOT BBC and ITV.
He shaid ( his words, it is a sh***y box and can only be used for German programmes.
We asked him why his boss had sold it to us but he did not know. They are reluctant to return our money and we have to go back at 10am tomorrow.

do you want to record two diffferent channels at the same time - in which case you will need to go for a receiver with TWIN TUNERS (like Sky+ or Freesat+), and have two cable feeds from the dish to the receiver

if you already have a sky subscription then go for a sky plus...the PVR functions are included in the subscription...

what satellite receiver do you currently use - if it is a sky receiver then you should be able to program the sky receiver to change channels automatically (Autoview in the planner) and just buy some form of DVD / HDD recorder to do the recording for you....

if you want to just record one channel at a time then some of the non UK receivers may not allow you to program channels easily..many programme guides only have now and next information and not the 7 days (or even 2 hours!) that you may want to programe the receiver to change channels - therefore you may have to programme all the settings manually (like a good old VCR!)

these are just a few questions for us to help you find a receiver that is for your needs...not a dealers / installers needs....
