Driving from the UK
The Comments |
I am currently making plans for our long Spring/Summer stay. Last year we ferried from Portsmouth to Bilbao, Kept the car at AAT then flew back and forth, bringing the car back in October. We travelled each journey in one go (with many breaks) However Shirene is not so good on the Ferries and we are thinking of taking the shuttle and driving down through France and Spain. Probably taking our time and making it part of the Holiday.
Does any one out there have a proven itinary, with routes and over-night stops ect? I would appreciate any good ideas and shared experiences.

If you give us your destination it would be easier to offer ideas on routes. We have travelled from Scotland for the last two Summers and use Eurotunnel which we find so easy. We stay at the Accor group of hotels of which there are many. One of our routes was Clermont-Ferrand via the amazing Milau bridge. We stayed at Calais, Clermont-Ferrand and Barcelona. We will change that to Perpignon this year. Hope this helps.
Best wishes

I have driven it once - all in one go definately not recommended lol. We travelled through Eurotunnel, via Reims, Lyon, Perpignion, Barcelona etc on to Costa Blanca. We will do this route again but are planning to stop near to Lyon approx halfway. It may not be the prettiest or shortest route but it misses out Paris and is motorway all the way. Best of luck!
