Dear All,

Glorious day here yesterday, dawn till dusk sunshine in cloud free sky, but cold cold cold, breeze from the N/East. You could only really enjoy the sun behind glass protection.

Today started bright but cloudy, still very cold and deteriorating into snow showers.

All day central heating necessary to nurse heavy coughs and colds.

Hope Spain is not suffering the same.

Housing market seems quiet, mainly repossessions, all selling but at what price?

Unless one is rich enough to buy one of Maria's bargains outright, one has to speculate on where the £ will finally rest to repay any mortgage from £ income.

If one is to believe the IMF and the almost universal ex-pat opinion of our current leaders (from posts), then to be prudent, perhaps if you can afford to do it and sustain it on a 50 cent £ then perhaps now is the time to find a good deal.

Regards

Norman

just a quickie as i've just tuned in to this discussion.

did anyone see the Piers Morgan on Dubai, and the Great Britain Islands in the sea?

My question is, if this sand was dredged in so to speak, what will happen if they build on that and sea levels rise ? wont there be a danger of flodding ?

The whole of the Palm developments here are built the same way - both The Palm and Palm Jebel Ali (and Palm Deira if it ever gets built!).  There must be an obvious danger if water levels were to rise - they say even the Maldives will be under water in fifty years!  But then Dubai are probably immune to the effects of rising sea levels, just as they are the credit crunch!!!

I thought it was guite hysterical watching them 'blasting sand' out of those massive machines to create a 'one man little mini island' to sell ......like sitting on the beach when your were a kid piling mounds & mounds of compacted sand for hours on end to stick a seagull feather in the top.    only difference in Dubai is 'the guy in the white robe'  smiling like a cheshire cat rubbing his hands thinking 'yeah' the stupid brits will fall for this!!!....lol..

Jan, just check this out, it's rather funny.

Click on http://www.netdisaster.com/ then paste http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=Palm+Jebel+Ali&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title into TARGET then choose FLOOD as option in DISASTER then click GO & wait !!!! See flood water start from the bottom, there's fish in it too.

Good innit ?

Aw Jan

I Googled for 'Palm Jebel Ali' & got a page up with all photos of it then I put the address into the net disaster site choosing 'flood'. You then see the page with the photos of  Palm Jebel Ali on it that has water coming onto the page from the bottom & there's fish after a while too, it's hilarious.  Sad you cannot see it. Guess Abu Dhabi isn't happy More flooding its pride & joy.
