Free Bank Transfers ?
The Comments |
I am about to transfer money to a Spanish bank account and today by chance was speaking to a friend told me today that the European Union issued a directive, effective from 1 May 2008, that bank transfers between member states should not attract a fee. Can anyone confirm this as I was led to believe that Spanish banks charge for just about everything.

You are not supposed to be charged by the receiving bank but some do...even if it is against the law!
I think Moneycorp (see banner on the left) refund you the charge if the bank in Spain does charge you for the transfer.
And yes, you're right...the banks here even charge you for the pleasure of just having an account with them! Crisis....what crisis?
