We have just returned to the UK having used a car through DYS. The question is ; has anyone else been asked to pay 60 euros for Fully Comp Insurance when picking up the car? The DYS website states that fully comp insurance is included, but we were told we had to pay this extra or we would only be 3rd party - we took the risk at just 3rd party and were ok.

Hi
Just looked at DYS web page and it does say fully comprehensive insurance included,
Are you sure this was not the extra insurance for the tyers glass underside of car? if not then I would email dys and ask for a refund of the €60

Hi
No, it was definitely fully comp that they were talking about as we refused to pay it and they said we would only be insured for 3rd party, fire & theft.
I have e-mailed DYS to ask what its all about as if I was on my own I would have been worried and possibly paid up.
Some other people were told the same and paid up to have it but they had booked through another company.

They put us with 'Goldcar' and although I'm not certain I think the other people were with them too.

That's preposterous !
DYS quote in their terms & conditions that
Fully Comprehensive Insurance without excess including unlimited civil liability, damage or accident to third parties (CDW), theft of the vehicle (TP), bail bond where applicable and personal accident insurance for the occupants of the rented vehicle.
And even Goldcar say in their Terms and Conditions (so no one can wriggle out of it....)
Our price includes:
- V.A.T. and local taxes.
- Unlimited mileage.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance without excess, personal liability insurance and theft cover.

Hi Toffees
Thanks. Goldcar apparently do not have any small cars, fiesta, corsa, etc for the dates that we need it for. We only need a five day hire and a small car would do us fine. They say that they only have focus size.

Hi friendly
What dates & airport did you look at quotes for, I'll have a scout around for you.
Oh, & what did they quote you, I forgot to ask, hence the edit.
Also, would you want the excess cover, tyres, windscreen, glass, underside ?

Choosing the ECONORENT option through http://wwww.hirecarsinspain.com
Group C is available (Opel Corsa / C3 diesel) for 28/9 9.30pm - 3/10 12.30pm Murcia airport. 172.50€ / £150.00
2€ a day covers you for excess insurance for glass..tyres...wheels
Econorent do not ask ANY money for the full tank they give you, you just ensure you return tank full.
Edited to say: I didn't have your post below there when I posted this. Hmmm. ok. Econorent are OTT then on basic price but if you had needed tyre insurance others do charge a small fortune & it adds up. Some car hire firms won't accept the insurance you mention, checks threads on here.
Also, bearing in mind you would be leaving petrol in the car I expect & paying a small fortune upfront for petrol, maybe Econorent IS the way to go, up to you now.
