Hi Trish,
I am sorry to hear about your problem with Endesa.
I tried to find for you if there was any number for customer service in English, but I am sorrry to tell you that there is none. Web page is not even translate into English. As you have tried to contact them and got no reply I suggest you contact "El Defensor del Cliente Endesa" you can read who they are all the information in the following address:
http://www.defensordelcliente.endesa.es/index_en.html
Good luck, and if I can be of any assistance, just let me know that I will do all my best to help.
Regards
Maria

Try an email - they might find somebody to translate that.

Try this number, we got through to pay a bill eventually (but not until we had been cut off!!). The lady was very helpful and spoke good English. She did say this office was in Barcelona, which is their main office.

Hi
I think the letters that you are refering to are just information about the deregulation that happened some time ago, as in the uk you now have more choice of supplier, If you do nothing you will stay with Endesa.
As far as the bill goes, is it estimated or acutal, if you look at the top left hand side of the bill you will see either Lectura estimada or Lectura real.
If its any help I get charged 0.11473 e per KWH

How do you go about getting re-connected when you get cut? My step-son just went out to our apartment on Monday arriving very late in the evening to find we've been cut off (but our bank has been paying the direct debit every month). He went up to the electric company office in the nearby town and sat for 2 hours waiting to see someone who told him they would not speak to him as he isn't the account holder and has no proof that he is representing us!
Poor bloke cannot use the fridge, get hot water to wash, cook or anything.
HELP!

Ok, I had this with water about a year after taking our place on, they disconnected us due to one of the first ever bills that never got to us, even thought there were taking monthly draws from our account - different utility and company, but try this. Try and speak to someone in Endesa yourself on the number I posted the other day (I found a very helpful english speaking Spanish guy the other day who told me in detail that the 600 Euros electricty draw this month was correct due to a computer cock-up from Sept to May!), as they may be able to re-connect you without any probs, certainly if you act desperate.
If they need someone to go in in person and sort, they should allow you to fax over a letter of authority. In that letter you may have to confirm step-son's full name and passport number, give him authority to act on your behalf and then sign it. This may allow him to turn up and sort it out on your behalf, but if they don't speak English there, you could have a problem (?).
If this doesn't work, your Solicitor should be able to sort, but this will more than likely cost you £ all round. If you don't trust your Solicitor there is a very helpful one on here who posts quite a lot - think it is Maria? Think it may be the Maria who's posted on this thread.
Good luck

Thanks, Mikey.
The boy went up this morning and paid off the outstanding money plus a "fine" and was told it would be back on in a couple of days. They claim to have received nothing from the bank. However, I did set up a direct debit last October and they have been taking money every month so I still don't know what is going on. Certainly the money has been going out of my account every month. I'll keep trying to speak to my bank and see if they can come up with any answers. And I will try that number you posted to try and speak tosomeone there.
Thanks again.

Mate, I'd print off your bank statements to prove money has gone out and not been returned, speak to Endesa (getting person's name for ref) and fax them the info for them to investigate. You may be entitled to some money back if it is their mistake?
Maybe they haven't taken readings (as apparently they do this on different frequencies in different areas) and you have been paying the minimum with large money outstanding and accruing for some time, hence being cut off. You don't get notifications of this stuff in my experience.
I've never had a bill, but the guy said the other day to get one I need to register on their website to sort this (using account number and factura number, which they can provide) - www.endesaonline.com

no doubt an admin error on there behalf. I'd keep quiet about that if I were you. The website is designed for people to keep track of their account. The cost of sending literally 1000's of bills each month to foreign countries wouldnt stack up for them.
Go and ask them to send bills your Spainsh electricity bills to your foreign abode & they will laugh at you..... providing they could understand what you just said. This message was last edited by bselectrical.eu on 03/12/2010.

I HAVE HAD ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS.... NOTE THE LATEST NONSENSE!!
I BOUGHT MY VILLA 7 YEARS AGO. MY SPANISH SOLICITOR PUT ALL THE UTILITIES IN MY NAME EXCEPT THE ELECTRIC WHICH HE EITHER FORGOT OR COULD NOT BE BOTHERED. FOR 7 YEARS I HAVE PAID THE BILLS ON TIME BY DIRECT DEBIT EVEN THOUGH THE BILLS ARE IN THE PREVIOUS OWNERS NAME!
SUDDENLY 6 MONTHS AGO I WAS CUT OFF! ALL MY EFFORTS ON THE TELEPHONE FROM LONDON FAILED TO GET RECONNECTED. THE PEOPLE ANT ENDESA WILL NOT OR REFUSE TO SPEAK ENGLISH EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THOUSAND OF ENGLISH CUSTOMERS. I HAD TO GO TO SPAIN! I QUEUED ALL MORNING, PAID ALL THE BILLS INCLUDING THE PENALTY FOR BEING CUT OFF! I WAS THEN TOLD THEY WOULD NO LONGER COLLECT DIRECT DEBITS AS THE ACCOUNT WAS NOT IN MY NAME! THIS WAS EVEN THOUGH THAY CAN SEE ON THE ACCOUNT THAT IVE BEING PAYING THE BILLS FOR 7 YEARS!
THEN THE BOMBSHELL! BEFORE THEY WILL SET UP A DIRECT DEBIT IN MY NAME I HAVE TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL SURVEY! THE HOUSE IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD! I DO THE SURVEY AND IM TOLD I WILL HAVE TO SPEND 2500 EUROS INCLUDING DIGGING UP THE ROAD SO TO BRING THE SYSTEM UP TO STANDARD (WHATEVER THEAT MEANS). nOONE ELSE IN THE COMPLEX HAS HAD THE WORK DONE ONLY ME IM TOLD! MY WIFE THEN WENT BACK TO SPAIN AND TO ENDESA TWICE AND ON THE SECOND VISIT SHE GAVE MY PASSPORT THE DEEDS ETC AND THEY THEN SAID I COULD SET IT UP BUT I HAD TO PROVIDE PERSONALLY A MANDATE. THIS WOULD HAVE NEEDED A FURTHER VISIT! THE COST IS CRAZY!!!
YESTERDAY I CALLED 0034 9025 08850 AND MANAGED TO GET AN ENGLISH SPEAKER AT ENDESA HURRAY!!!!
I WAS ABLE TO GIVE ALL MY DETAILS ACCOUNTS ETC ETC SHE SAID THAT EVERYTHING IS FINE! I HAVE TO SAY I AM NOT SURE I BELEIVE IT!! WE WILL SEE!! SO FAR I HAVE SPENT ABOUT 700 EORUS IN FARES ETC AND GOODNESS KNOWS HOW MUCH ON PHONE CALLS ETC. BUT I HAVE SO FAR NOT HAD TO SPEND THE 2500 EUROS.....
FOOTNOTE>>>WHAT I FIND EXTRAORDINARY IS HOW THE SO CALLED MANAGING AGENTS IN SPAIN ARE SO USELESS TELLING ME I WOULD HAVE TO SPEND THE 2500 EUROS AND I HAD NO CHANCE OTHERWISE!!
EXCELLENT SITE BY THE WAY!

It seems to me that you are taking advantage of some of the difficulties Endesa customers are having to make a bit more than a few bucks out of their misery
