I was in Spain last week (until Thursday 15.10.09) and can advise that the Aldea office in Cartagena has been closed.
I was told that Aldea's office in Torrevieja still exists but all attempts to contact them have failed - they never pick up the telephone.
I have granted a new Power of Attorney to a new Spanish law firm who are acting on my behalf.
Amongst other matters they have undertaken to investigate if Aldea ever sent on the taxes that I paid to them.
If anyone has any further information please let me know.

My usual business is to complete non resident tax forms and as I have been contacted in the last few days by some people who are caught up in this insolvency, I have drawn up a letter in Spanish which can be either taken in person or posted to your Spanish tax office to ask whether non resident taxes have been paid or not. If you have paid monies to Aldea to cover your non resident tax bill and now do not know whether this has been paid or not, I will happily email you a copy of the letter free of charge. If you give me your names, NIE numbers, amount of money paid etc. I will personalise the letter for your own use. Naturally I will also happily take over payment of your non resident tax for future years as well and rest assured I will not be going anywhere fast! If you would like to receive one of the letters please email me on enquiries@spain214.com

Dear all of you,
Let me inform you that last 13th of October, the Mercantile Court No1 published the court order dated 3rd of September stating Aldeas Bankrupcy. That means that we have 15 days time since the 13th to report your credits according to our Bankrupcy Law.
Also, with regard to your requests about legal services, I insist on that it is very important to state that according to the Spanish Law any lawyer, advisor called in Spanish "asesor" or "gestor" should be duly registered in the proper authority.
I hope that all that information helps you.
Yours Faithfully.

Dear Maria
Aldea have my Deeds, and my Habitation License, is it possible that you or anyone else can advise me of what I have to do to retreive them..
I did not have any money of mine, but like I say they do have my documents, and I am at my wits end as what to do.
Saludos
Mable

Have you tried this fax: (+34) 965-705-287 ?
I have called and received an answer today and they seem to be ready to send the documentation to any new lawyer you or anyone has.
Good luck and please keep us posted on the good results!
Maria

I have at long last received a reply from Aldea in response to my query as to whether or not they had paid our taxes with the money we gave them! The reply is actually from Aldea not the Administrators. Not good news though - as we suspected - they say they have not paid our taxes but lucky for us we still have until 31st December to pay them again if the Administrator does not authorise payment!! They state that they will know for sure by the end of November if they will be paying them or not!

Just to resurrect this again after more than a month. Has anyone heard anything at all from the administrators? Certainly I haven't. Anyone with any updates? All info gratefully received I am sure.

I have just received an e-mail from the Administrator asking me to send money for unpaid income tax for 2008. This is half the amount originally calculated (and sent in July to Aldea). I have asked them to reply stating how they calculated the amount. Has anyone else received a similar demand?

We called in to the offices in Torrevieja when we were over in November. They were operating as normal and with all the same staff. We paid our taxes to them in June and were told that this was not paid and so needed to be paid again. Unfortunately we paid the first time before we had our first SUMA bill so the amount paid was based on the purchase price and not the Valor Catastral which was much less. They are now paying our taxes for us at the lesser amount and without paying them again for doing it for us!
I cant quite believe we actually gave them some more money but they assured us that everything was fine now and there were quite a few people in the office waiting to be seen. (And it was only €50)
Fingers crossed!!

Re: Hello does anyone have a telephone number for

The Administrator of Aldea?
Sadly no. He has not replied to any of my e-mails. I too would like a personal response rather than the legal mumbo-jumbo of his general correspondence. We live most of the time in UK, therefore rely on e-mails to keep us informed. At this distance we also have to reply on the trustworthiness of solicitors to handle our business for us!! I’m not paying another to try to recoup a relatively small amount of money and tell me what Snr Serrano should be telling me for free.
So – a couple of questions to Snr Serrano for starters -
Are there preferential creditors – who and how much?
Is there any likelihood of a payout to general creditors?
I can’t believe there is so little web-forum interest in this, it is a huge issue. The integrity of the Spanish system of legal representation is at stake. Are there any other sites out there where people are corresponding?

Why do not you try certified communication with the Court in charge of the administration? This person, is at the end, an auxiliary tool of Courts.
Best,
Maria

I agree with Roberto101.
I have tried to contact both Aldea and the Administrator over the past number of days without success.
E-mails go unanswered, and of late the Aldea phone lines seem to be constantly engaged, (Are they just busy, or have they packed up for the Christmas break, or maybe for good !!!!).
Either way, I decided to transfer my 2008 Wealth Tax money electronically to the usual Aldea Bank account (in La Caixa).
However, my bank confirmation of the transfer suggests that the money was transferred into another bank at a different address than the normal one.
So, I am left thinking, have I wasted my money, when I assumed I was doing the correct thing and paying my 2008 Tax bill before the Dec 31st deadline?. Where has my money gone? Will it ever wing its way to the Spanish Tax office?.
Being at a two thousand mile distance from the action is frustrating.
I also e-mailed a copy of my money transfer data to the Administrator SR. Serrano, but alas, to date no reply - what a surprise !!.,
So, folks, it looks like the jury is out on this one. Not sure what can be done/ascertained unless one is standing in the reception area of Aldea'soffice, banging the desk, and looking for direct answers from Sr. Alfredo, the owner of Aldea.
If I get any further info. I will keep you all posted re develppments.
Regards,
PK
