Hi Steve & Carol,
There is a good value 'Wok Buffet' in San Javier - as you drive into the town from San Cayetano end, you get to a roundabout with a filling station on your right. Turn right here and follow the road down and you come to a small retail park on your right. Very good value for money and good food. All you can eat for 9 euros and they throw in a brandy at the end and a bottle of wine to take home free of charge if you have wine with your meal.
The only tapas we have been in is one in Lo Pagan on the beach front which is very good (just a small cafe, but with great views). This area also has tapas bars on the beach. The best way in is to go to Dos Mares shopping centre and the road leads in from there.
There is a Spanish tapas bar in the village at San Cayetano, the Rose & Thistle (chips look great!), spanish bar which attracts the younger age range (although they do have dominoes) and a new restaurant Joaquin's run by the previous chef at the Rose & Thistle - but we haven't been in there.
