Has anyone changed their door lock or thinking of changing their door lock on their apartment?
Would be grateful for information if anyone has any contacts as I am thinking of changing the door lock to my apartment before furniture arrives
Regards

Good Luck. Geoff

Don't know if you want to do this, but on the complex we bought in 2 years ago a lot of neighbours swapped locks with each other on different blocks keeping the costs down and it was just between you and who ever you swapped with making sure you got the correct amount of keys, the builder will never know who you swapped with if they still had spare keys etc.
Hope this might be of some help.

hi,,,
like the idea of changing the locks but possibley this may not solve the problem because there maybe the chance that the builders or PW have a master key which will un lock all appartments instead of having to carry around hundreds of sets of keys, food for thought !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't think that's the case, did my snagging last Friday and was let into my apartment by someone carrying a rather large bunch of keys (probably 100). She was there to let in the town hall officials carrying out there inspections for the habitation certificates.
The front doors are security doors, don't think that they would be cheap to replace.

Hi Kev & Jess
Brilliant idea!
Maybe someone should collect a few names who are interested, find a handy "person" who could transfer them and job done!
If you change with a different garden just to be on the safe side!
Any offers from anyone who will be living permantly in the gardens?
Maybe a job for " anglebabe911"

The furniture pack companies seem to offer this service and do it after your apartment is fitted out by them- for a price.
Alternatively you can fit an extra lock yourself.

Hi All
Cant speak for you builders but where we bought, the foreman had a safe with a key to every apartment inside and when the time came for hand over I personaly had a hard time trying to get this key,so I doubt there is a master key system it's too expensive. Also on our doors, if the door closed out you can't open it with out the key and are then locked out so we got the handle changed to one that would open with out a key (very handy when you have children) just lock when you are leaving. Maybe someone handy on site could do jobs for you it's not that difficult. (I wish I was on site make some easy money )
Hope this makes sense.
PS The reason I am looking at your forum is because I have friends who have bought one, I am not looking to make money or anything, just pass on some experience.
