Hi - If anyone is interested, I am using a chap from Yorkshire called George who lives in Mazarron to do my electrical work.  I took the lights I wanted over with me on my last trip and he is wiring them all in on Monday.  His tel no is 0034 630 239 523.  He is a lovely bloke.

Could you give let me know what he is charging to wire all the lights up (is that internal and external lights?)

I have sent a few messages/e-mails to Emma at Snagitmurcia requesting a quote for her her father to do this work, and also to put up the curtain rails, but have not had any response.

Two questions:

1. What made you buy the lights in the UK, is there much difference in prices..?

2. Is the wiring, etc. compatible with Spain. I'm assuming it's just a colour coding thing or whether they need to be earthed.

I checked with the sparky before I bought the lights and he said that all new built Spanish properties are fully compatible with UK lighting.  I had a quick look at the prices in June when I was over in Spain and, although not too bad, I was able to take my time and select what I wanted here at a good price too.  I just packed the lights in my suitcase and left them there ready for Mondays installation.  I go back over on Sunday for a fortnight to get things sorted.  The only thing I was taken aback with is the amount of light fittings PW has put in.  It's like Blackpool Iluminations!!  I may well ask the guy to block off a few wires as there is really no need for so many.

The light fittings you've bought in England have they got the baynet fitting or the screwfit type bulbs as I'm sure I read somewhere that they only sell the screwfit type in Spain. Please can anyone confirm to me on this?

They are all GU10 halogen bulbs.  I deliberately used the exact same type of bulb throughout the apartment to keep things simple.  I have taken a good stock of replacements over just in case but I did see some in Carrefour anyway so no worries there.  Actually Carrefour did have a reasonable selection of lights/lamps on offer at not too bad prices.
