We have received 5 attachments from PW they have been in touch with our solicitor. These are for insurance gas electricity etc.  We cannot fill in any thing that requires passport details as we have just got married and will be getting a new one next week.
Can anyone give us an instruction list in order of what you do first next etc in regards to completion as we are very confused and still do not have an nie number
.Anyone for a barbecue and drink when we all get there and meet up with everyone LOL

Hi Ruthless

The 1st thing you do is calmmmmmm down lol, then you dont worry about NIE numbers PW can apply for them for you and then you just pick them up just before completion.

Its easy to fill the paperwork in as normally they give you a 'sample' thats in english for information only but its the Spanish one you have to fill in, if in doubt ask your solicitor to help thats what your paying them for....I am sure theres lots more help at hand with plenty of friendly members that will be offering too

Good luck and keep posting
Carol

Hi Ruthless,

I also panicked when I got all these forms, and I left them for a day or to then went back to them. I went with Zurich for the insurance because it was cheaper than the bank, I filled out as much as the forms as I could and on the day of completition the solicitor had a look and helped me finish the rest. I then gave them to the PW rep who was in the solicitors. They are all very nice and speak english. So dont be to frayed by it all. It will be worth it in the ned. Congratulations!

Margaret

I second that don't panic, i know how easy it is too let it get on top of you! My hubby is serving in Iraq soI have been dealing with most stuff on my own with ALOT of help off peeps here. We are going out on Monday to complete Thursday - hopefully!

OK if memory serves me right the main thing to sort first is the paperwork that has all your details on it, names, address, passport numbers, plot number etc. ** Check it is right and sign it and send it back to PW

Next - Insurance this needs to be sent back with the above so that it can be set up ready for completions.

The other ones are the community sheet and utililities- don't worry too much about these as you bring these with you on completions day!

With regards to your passport changing, it should be ok as doesnt the number stay the same, its just your name you are changing? oh i cant remember!!  Just let PW know im sure it will be fine. Probably a photocopy of marriage cert might help just incase but see what PW say. There's always a way!

Correct me if i have any of that incorrect guys!!

We were a bit concerned because we didn't really know which bits of those forms to fill in - so I left them blank and took them with us when we completed last week. When we were at the Notary's Office the nice lady from Polaris World filled them all in for us!  She even had another copy of them incase we didn't have them with us.

If you are not getting a mortgage they don't even ask to see your insurance documents.

The only document which we had looked at and did anything with was the one which checked your details for the deeds to your property - I checked through this one and just emailed them with a spelling mistake and while we completed they asked for my maiden name.

Hello all

I filled in the document with all of the Notary info, and the Zurich info and sent them back a couple of weeks before completing.

On the plane on the way over, I read the Notary info doc again, and realised my passport number was wrong!!   Started to get a bit worried...

On the Thurs morning, we met in PW HQ for them to take us to collect our NIE.   I told the PW rep about my incorrect passport number and he said it was no problem - he took the correct one and made a call...

On the Friday, whilst completing, my Solicitor asked me to check the draft deeds doc - all very offical looking.  I saw that the WRONG passport number was still on there, so again started to worry.   My solicotr and the notary rep took the correct one, went outside and came back with an amended document within about 3 minutes.  That was it - all correct, and then we  signed.

So you shouldn't need to worry too much - as long as you have your passports with you you'll be able to collect NIE adn complete - even if they do the paperwork there and then.

I would recommend getting your insurance sorted though - it's obviously prudent to have building cover from the moment the property is yours...  so you should send that back to PW a couple of weeks beforehand (suggest you send it "signed for"

PW were very efficient during the completions process, so they will take care of it all.

Good luck

Russ

If you have a good solicitor with power of attorney then there is no real reason to be there for completion.  If you are wanting a mortgage company who are also very helpful with all aspects of the buying process then i can recommend murcia mortgages.  A snagging company may well be worth using (unless you purchased with an agent who did offerthis when you originally purchased).

I have calmed right down now, having got my passport in my married name sent the info to Spain and have got back the power of attourney paperwork i have had it notarised and had to chase the foreign office to put the apostile on the back half way across country from surrey to milton keynes  because they moved yesterday and got it done.Phew!!
So if you are waiting for paperwork via post  thats the reason why.
