I have just received an email from our keyholders telling us the road connecting the Mercadona to Thalassa is now open (bear in mind this is written for residents on Resort).

"THE ROAD IS NOW UP AND RUNNING, WHAT A LOVELY DRIVE THROUGH, WE HAVE SOME NICE PALM TREES A FAB CYCLE ROUTE AND EVEN BENCHES DOTTED ALONG THE PAVEMENT IN CASE SOME OF YOU WANT TO SIT AROUND AND WATCH THE TRAFFIC GO PAST.  MOST IMPORTANTLY OF COURSE IS THE FACT THAT THE NEW ROAD CUTS OUT QUITE A FEW MINUTES WHEN NEEDING TO GET TO THE WOK NEAR TO OPENING TIME. YUM YUM YUM,,,,

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE TO VISIT THE BARS FOR THE ODD GLASS OF VINO, BEER OR JUST A TRIPLE VODKA, THERE IS GOOD NEWS FOR YOU.   THE BUS ROUTE HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW ROAD ALTHOUGH AS YET WE HAVE NO EXTRA BUS STOPS.  HOWEVER I AM VERY SURE THAT THE STOPS WILL BE IN PLACE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS,   (this is spain you know)"

So there you have it, buses and an easy route to the supermarket

Excellent news especially as I'm visiting in early September. Does the road link to the first Andalus complex and do the buses stop outside the phase B complex?

Not sure which was first, Resort or Residencial, but there is one on either side of the carriageway. I have been given no other details about the bus stops and their locations, I would imagine in the short term it may be similar to "hail and ride" until they decide where to place the stops. Otherwise, the current stop is on the small roundabout at the entrance to the urbs, next to the disused restaurant. I'm sure one of the regulars may be able to give a bit more info when they see this .

WHICH DISUSED RESTAURANT?  CHEERS

If you drive to the Mercadona from Vera, when you take the left turn to Puerto Rey, there is a disused restaurant on the right, just before the roundabout. The stop for us at the top is there, where it stops around Thalassa I don't know, but apparently it does go down that way.

We have friends going to our place on Thalassa this weekend and need to give them instructions from Murcia airport. We know the route but always use the back road from by the Vera Sur. Would not want our friends to try this at midnight . Can you explain the route from AP7 exit and via the new road or even via Pueto Ray?

There is a map provided by the motorway which you can download from my website, which will get you the exit 534 at Vera. Off at that exit and past the hotel with the coloured rods and stuff on the roof, then turn left onto the ring road, which will take you to the fountain roundabout. Turn left at this roundabout toward Garrucha. Follow the road for about 5kms until you see the Mercadona and turn left at the junction. At the mini roundabout turn left into the urbanisations and this will bring you alongside the Mercadona to another roundabout. Turn right at this roundabout and I believe it is dual carriageway all the way down. I haven't been down it myself, neither have I seen any plans so can't be 100%.

The ´disused´ restaurant is called the Gnomo Feliz and is at the mini roundabout as you turn right out of the Mercadona towards Puerto Rey
