we are over in a month and want to install TV. Is there anyone else in Block 38 interested or already installed so we can share the dish. I have already contacted europa-digital and they have given us the go-ahead so we will be speaking to them shortly.

Europa were cheaper for installation when i called around - but they seemed to be very evasive when asking how much cabling was needed - which we thought a little strange as they told us they fit our style blocks all the time.
Our installation quotation was 195.00euros inc. 15m cable, we were then charged an extra 71.00euros for cable - the 15m is nowhere near enough. The 2 apartments who joined our 4 were then charged and extra 30.00euros for internal trunking.
This did not include the sky box we used an old one from home - they wanted to charge 299.00euros for that and even the engineer who installed it said that was very expensive you could get one cheaper in UK. Our old uk sky box works ok and we get all the free to air channels no problem.
For four to share the cost was nearer 300.00euros than the 195.00euros quoted - we did not taken out a contract so now have no monthly payments.
Although a bit pricier than we thought, it works well and we enjoy it when we are there.

Lynda/Jay,
I have installed a dish on the lift shaft between blocks 39/40 (Lynda I think that we spoke about this in May) which you are welcome to share. It may be worth asking Europa (they installed the dish) if they can reach your apartments from there using existing cabling/ducting. The cabling may be a little more expensive but the dish price would be considerably less.

I have just returned from Thalassa. On my way home, I drove past and noticed that the shop front no longer says "Depau" but couldn't make out whether they have changed their name/image or whether someone else had taken over the shop or what they sold.

They do not give you the service and support that Spanish shops offer,we went in there to ask about software for my Laptop printer, and he was not interested. They either do not have the technical skills or they do not want the business. Owners go to them because they speak English and they feel comfortable ,do not make that mistake ,use the competition,. I went elsewhere and I bought a printer and they put the software on for us in the shop ,and then repacked the printer all for a good price. I cannot remember the name of the shop ,but it was in Garrucha ,on the left past the Mercadona.
I agree with Phil ,nothing in stock, when I am over for a week , I cannot wait. . They told us that they have been recommended on the internet, perhaps they got to much easy business and have taken us for granted.Language barrier aside ,service in Spain far exceeds what is offered in the UK.The Spanish assistants go that extra mile.
They also sold us a digital receiver, recommended, which is still in the drawer at Thalassa ,awaiting digital transmission to the urbanisation. This was when we first completed, and we where a little naive.

Depau i was told it was a franchise and it was for the first 12 months which was up about November / December hence the name change
i´m glad someone else recommended the Spanish dealers / shops other than me keep going on about the only people here who are likley to take advantage, not do a good job or offer poor service is unfortunatly are our fellow ex pats, they rely on you all not being confident speaking Spanish, i was out with a friend last night who builds swimming pool, lived here 12yrs and will only employ spanish workers, he did once as a favour employ a brit and as a result never again,
Ken when you are next over plug that digi box in, plug your outside ariel into the box then plug another co-ax from the box to the telly and you should recieve about 30 more Spanish channels, but this won´t get you any english ones sorry
