We returned from our apartment in the last week and we left feeling good ,there is a parking card ,which prevents renters parking in our spot ,when we where over in June ,we had to walk with all our luggage and 2 kids in the dark because our spot was taken. My three year old was crying, and it was awful .The renters car had dripped oil, which we noticed next day.
We are quite happy with the pool arrangements and times, although we felt that it was wrong for some couples to be using the pool without a life-guard,when we spoke to them they told us that they where renting, and they had not been told, but where happy to follow us ,for safety reasons and the law. Can anyone advise of the pool opening times? I've looked on the other website and it isn't clear as it looks as though the pool is closing but then states that it is open so it is ambiguous in its detail, probably typos.
From what I could make out, it appears that the pools are only closed for half hour (between them) opening in the morning and closing at 8pm - is this correct?
Also, what are these parking cardsand where do we get them from?

There was one really aggresive person who was saying no -one will stop him or his family using the pool,every-one else was fine, and yes Nuflow you are correct between the two pools there is near constant bathing.

Cliff,
The numbered card system is a laminated card with the number of your own parking bay on it.
It is to be displayed on your windscreen so that it corresponds with the number of the bay that you are parking in.
You will be given your card, and a copy of the rules and regulations regarding Thalassa if you ask Teo on the gate. He will ask you to sign upon receipt.
This will (hopefully) go some way to preventing disputes regarding the parking bays!
Owners who rent their properties, make several copies of said card for guests usage, just in case they forget to remove it from their vehicle on departure!
Lynda,
Perhaps they could put a note with the your parking place number in their windscreen ,until they get one from Teo.
Ruby,
Please do not be discouraged, the majority of owners realise and support your views.,because they realise that we have a budget for this year.I will send you a PM which will explain the whole picture.

Hi Ruby,
I am pleased to hear that you and your family had a great time at Thalassa , i am pleased you managed to work round the pool opening hours, as you seemed to manage it so well and all had such a great time i was wondering if you could offer me , my family and friends some advice, we will be at thalassa wc the 15th sept, and we have been looking forwad to it for some time, all the family and the kids splashing about in the pool in the sun , enjoying our holiday home, just like you did in August, but now i discover that the pools will be closed, what do you suggest, maybe climb the fence, or would that mean i was an aggresive person ?

Hi Andy,
We where over in June not August. The rude person was in his thirties and had a shaven head, telling every-one that no -one would stop him and his family using the pool . Have you had problems? If you PM me and explain .I can try to understand.
I believe the indoor pool is for use after the 15th September. Will you not be happy with that,it is heated. My kids hate swimming in cold pools.
Please enjoy your holiday ,we will be over then.
Love Ruby

You may have missed my point Ruby, what i am trying to say is that it is crazy to close the outdoor pools on the 15th of September, and no i will not be happy at having to swim in an indoor pool when the temp outside is still more than likely to be up in the mid thirties, if i wanted to swim in an indoor pool i could have bought a holiday home at Blackpool or even cheaper go my local gym more often ! , but like your kids , i too hate swimming in cold pools but the outdoor pools will still be more than warm enough to swim in. What i am trying to politely say is that not everyone can fit in with these crazy pool hours, some residents work and would like to swim early or late, some poeple can't take holidays during the 15th of june to the 15th sept, We have all bought on Thalassa because it offered such faciliites, and as such would like to use them when we wish all year round, After all is that not what we are paying a community charge for ?
I understand that seasun have left us in this position but i am becoming increaseingly frustrated that no action seems to be taken to put this situation right, and it has been indicated that it will not be on the agenda until March. As our next visit looms it looks like wewill have to break the rules and climb the fence yet again.
Maybe see you in Sept, Regards.. Andy

HI Andy
I hear what you are saying, but you need to be aware that if the pool is officially closed as out of season then you need to consider:
1. Pool will probably not be chlorinated, hence the possibility of raised levels of bacteria.
2. Other water parameters such as pH, alkalinity, etc will not be monitored or corrected, thus potentially causing irritation to your skin.
3. Filter will probably not be working, thus you will be swiming in "dirty" water.
The outdoor pool on Resort also shuts around then and won't open again until May. It saves a bit on the maintenance bills for the pool by having one open at a time.

Andy,
Please I do not want to argue with you ,I am trying to undrstand your point of view, and yes we would be happy to have a drink with you when you are over. What are you upset about, the lifeguards or the pool closing after the 15th September.
We have friends on other parts of Vera and their out-door pools close .
Do you have children?
Love Ruby

Hi Ruby,
It is not my intention to argue either, it is just that me and many other owners are very unhappy with the pool opening times ( have you been on the commuity website www.verathalassa.es ) and the fact that the outdoor pools are closed in the middle of sept when they are warm enough to use, even in the cooler months through the winter we should be allowed to sit round them on sunny days, which if my memory serves me correctly is about 320 in spain !, it is also very frustrating as nothing seems to be being done about it either. Anyway no hard feelings, will maybe catch up with you in Sept,
Regards,, Andy
p.s .. yes i do have a young son 18th months, and he loves the swimming pools !! when they are open ! This message was last edited by andysmith on 8/13/2008.

Thanks Andy ,mine are three and ten .We are paying a mortgage and we would not be able to pay an increase in community charge to cover all year life-guards.
Our friends have told us that their pool temperature drops to low to swim comfortably. I t would also mean ,three pools open including the indoor it would cost a fortune. We do not want to pay for it.
We have also been told that a community where fined over 33,000 euros, and if they do it again it will be a larger fine and a closure.
Love Ruby
Also what about what Markfish has told us about ,the pool would need maintenance and be dangerous if used out of season. This message was last edited by Ruby Tuesday on 8/13/2008.

Hi Ruby,
just to keep one outdoor pool open all year round would only cost about 3-5 euros each extra, per month , i am not saying we would swim in it from november to march, but it is possible form april to october, but anyway if you did fancy a swim in december you should have the choice, other ways of keeping the pool open all year round would be to reduce the size of them , they are only just over the legal size of 200sq mtrs which means they need to have a life guard, i have been informed that both pools would need to lose approx 10 sq m, each, this is nothing in comparison and you would hardly notice the change, the other option is to build a dividing wall under the bridges, only a divide just above the water level which would create two pools , one shallow and one deep, making both pools under 200sq mtrs, no lifeguards are then needed, but the overall pool would still have the same apperance, surely if budget ands costs are a concern to you then this would be your favoured option as although there would be cost for work on the pool, long term we would have no lifeguard costs which at present are over 5000 euros a month, all we would have is a small cost to keep the pool clean and working which would mean a massive saving long term to the community budget, the result would be, everyone can swim when they wish , and long term savings are made on community fees not a difficult choice to make is it ?

Hi Andy ,
I am listening and it all sounds good and you are really keen on this. Will you still use the pool out of season when it is not being maintained and put your baby at risk? Mark says that when the pool is switched off you are swimming in dirty water and why bother when we have an indoor lovely warm pool.,Would you not feel guilty if we all got fined because of you and every-one would not like you then?We want to have friends and good neighbours not upsetting people.
Love Ruby
What are your favourite places to eat ,that are child friendly?

I think the point here is shutting the outdoor pools in mid september is just crazy. It wont have cooled down so much as its too cold to swim. My preference would be to have the pools open from Easter weekend (if its in April) till october half term. thats probably a month to six weeks longer. Even if the water does cool a tad it will still be warm enough to sit round the pool and paddle your feet etc.
The costs of the lifeguards does seem very excessive given thats its roughly 5k a month an they only receive a small portion of that. We must be able to getter a better deal than this...
Despite the fact that the spanish are the majority population onsite and they take siestas and probably dont mind not sunbathing/swimming in the afternoon, there is a big enough contingent of northern europeans who may wish to frequent the pools at this time. They should not be closed and quite frankly although the lifeguards are very nice people they dont do much do they. So its in all our interests to come up with the best solution to A) reducing the cost of the lifeguards B) reducing the need for them at all or C) ensure that there is suitable cover to keep the pool open all day
The bottom line, as Andy has said many times is we dont currently get what was advertised when we purchased and this is not right.
My feeling is that this year is a learning curve but we must correct these issues for next year. This is a holiday retreat for most of us and thus we dont want it being like a nanny state with too many rules and regs being pushed on us.

I believe that we probably do need to extend the time the outside pools remain open at the start of the season and the end.We probably need to look at some temperature data and seek advice ,This of course would require a larger budget ,which will be decided at the March meeting.
Markfish has rightly brought to our attention the dangers of swimming in a pool that has been shut-down. I must admit I had not considered that. Thanks Mark.I know that you are an expert on water transmitted bacteria and how disease spreads .

My boyfriend and I are shocked by jburfot who said that there are to many rules and regs, how can they say that ,if we had no community selfish people would do as they wish with no consideration for others.
We have seen that first hand, and I want to be sure that my little ones are safe, some will do just what pleases them.We believed when we bought that every-one would care .Would you send your kids to a school with no rules or a sports centre with no rules or .fly in a plane with no rules or ship with no safety .
Love Ruby

Hi Ruby,
No i would not want to take my child into a pool which is not maintained, but as i said in my post, if the pools were reduced in size by a very small fraction or an alteration made, we would have no need for lifegfuards and this would represent a massive saving to the community and to our fees, the cost of maintaing a pool all year round , or at least from April to October would be a drop in the ocean , or should i say pool , compared to the cost of the current lifeguards. All we want Ruby is what we were promised when we purchased, you may be happy using the indoor pool in September, but i know many others who would much rather use the outdoor pools when it is warm enough, and i find it very difficult to belive that in september when the weather will be around 30 degrees for the majority of the month, and the outdoor pools will be almost the same temperature as the indoor one that you would rather be in a stuffy indoor pool ! but if we do manage to keep the pools open in september, and as you say you would rather swim indoors in Sept,, at least you would have plenty of room to swim in !

Hi Andy,
I feel that you are actually a bully, and rude, telling every-one what they should do,make our lovely pools smaller, telling my family we are wrong because we do not agree with you . Do you ever talk about anything but the pool,it is rather boring, and you keep repeating yourself. This message was last edited by Ruby Tuesday on 8/14/2008.
