Hi to everyone on the Forum
This is my first time so please be gentle with me..........I have been following your threads for a few weeks now, but have only just found the time/brains to write. We have just completed on Jardin 8 & cannot wait to get in and meet all you nice people.
I have a question. Where is the best place to pick up some tools for doing the odd job around the apartment, especially when we first move in. I am not thinking major projects you understand just things like a drill, screwdrivers etc. Is there a Spanish B&Q.

Hi Oceanaut,
Welcome. You've every right to be afraid as this can be a scary place, not everyone one here is as friendly as me. Beware 'The Grumpies'.
IKEA in Murcia sell a basic set of tools (hammer, screwdriver set, etc) for a few Euros. Should be enough for all small jobs about the house.

Hi Oceanaut,
We went to a place similar to B & Q the shop is called Leroy Merlin. It is on the A30 going into Cartagna I think its is junction 191 you will see the bill board signs on your right as you approach. We will be back out on condado on the 14th September we have tools if you need to borrow anything.

Hi Oceanaut - Welcome to the forum - For somewhere closer to home, there is a diy shop on Camposol, which is only 5 minutes up the road from Condado

Listen folks,
Don't travel all the way to Murcia for tools, there are loads of places around the area, especially in Mazarron, but you don't even need to go there. Travel south down the RM3 about 5/10 minutes to Camposol. Come off at the sign posted urbanizacion Camposol, as you come off the slip road you should see a shopping area on Sector B. Normally you will see the Consum supermarket from a distance. Next door to this is a place called Bricolae where you can get everything from sun loungers to hammer drills. They all speak english even though they are mostly Spanish. On Sector A there is another DIY place just as good.
If you have the time its well worth a look on here as there are other lots of other shops, cafes and restaurants which might prove useful while your waiting for things to establish on PW.
Regards,
Steve.

hi Oceanaut
welcome to the forum, don't be scared
I was told that there is a shop at Camposol, just down the road that does drills and tools etc, sorry I don't remember the name of it. (I'll try to find it) A bit further afield is Leroy Merlin that has everything and anything you need.

Thanks for the welcome & the warning Cappielow, but even Grumpies cannot stem the tide of happiness most people seem to be enjoying as they complete and prepare to take residence.
Charlie & Carol, thank you also for the welcome & the offer of borrowing your tools. We will be out on the 19th Sept so you may be emptying your tool drawer sooner than you think.

Hi Oceanaut, welcome to EOS, i'm sure you'll gain a lot of info on this site as well as have a few laughs. I'd heard about the shops in Camposol but i'm not sure what this sector A & B is, Redman(Steve) can you help? I was told that when you come off the RM-3 you can stay on that side of the road or go over to the other side where there are more shops etc. First thing for me will be a battery drill to buy. Anyone know what junction the Urbanisation Camposol is?
Chris.

Camposol Section A and Section B are on opposite sides of the RM3 Motorway, to get from one side to the other there is a road bridge. If you are coming from Condado the Slip road will take you on to sector B, but at the roundabout you can choose to go across the bridge to sector A.
I'm not sure what the junction is, but it is well signposted as Urbanizacion Camposol so should be easy to spot. Also the main DIY store is normally open until 9:00pm except Sundays when it's closed all day.
Regards,
Steve.
