Planning permission

In reading the 'Parador in Administration' thread and finding it interesting I noted the point about Polaris not having planning permission for the Town. In an effort not to send that thread off on a tangent I started this thread because I'm wondering is this a reference to the Oasis or to the Foro?

Our focus in recent weeks has been in getting through to completion and so we have obviously missed something somewhere.  I know I have read about the Oasis and prospective businesses keen to be on that development and so have presumed (never a good idea) that Oasis wasnt in doubt. Likewise I've presumed that the new Foro was agreed in principle and only the new design and location having to be agreed rather than the whole thing being an uncertainty.

In looking at the size of the development from a recently taken ariel photo its hard to believe that the present supermarket and bar could sustain all those residents anyway.

                      Just back last night from completion trip. On our visit to the Condado office ,speaking to one of the Polaris employees while we stood over the master plan model we were informed that :-
Town centre Foro construction work is in progress and it will be up & running summer 2009.
Oasis construction works have started and completion is scheduled for 2010. I drove past the Oasis site several times on the way to our apartment and can say that the construction that has started on Oasis is ground works. The whole area has been levelled off and I could see that the drainage shafts were prominent above ground level along the full length of the footprint of the site. Just alongside this, work is steaming ahead on the Isla de Condado with excavations well in progress to form the lake around the 'spit of land' that the apartments are built on.
Our golf course continues to take shape and there are some mighty mounds being formed giving a rolling landscape quite different to that of La Torre course. I think it is going to be a 'good un'.

Many thanks Billbo-good to hear recent news and everything sounds as if its forging ahead. You clearly managed to speak to one of the reps who actually gave some information. When we were over three weeks ago we could see the lake had been dug out and the Isla apartments are taking shape but the rep we spoke to wasnt very helpful. We asked about the Foro and she shrugged and said 'but you have a supermarket here'- lost in translation I think.

As far as I know the land which is to house the Oasis and the 2 Bears Best courses has still to be re-zoned from agricultural land to development land.  This, I believe, is the permission PW are waiting on to be granted.  The land to the left of the Oasis ie all the land already developed for Jardines, Naranjos etc has already been re-zoned so no probs with that.

Wwhen we were there in July we were told by PW that the area for the oasis and 2 bears courses still needed re-clasifying from agricultural to residential development. 
The impression I was given was that originally the local town hall wanted to see just how popular Condado would become and therefore held off giving full development permission for the whole site but gave, I guess what we would call "outline planning permission" in the UK, for part of the development which is oasis and 2 bears best courses.

I'd imagine that the people who have bought on Isla will expect that the lake at least is ensured- not to go ahead with a lake that creates the Isla and therefore the whole premise for their properties, is rather more major than moving the Foro.

I know we were originally told the whole resort was within a ten year plan and we cant imagine that Polaris dont expect to build around the 2nd and Third golf courses at some time in the future. Given all the other things that Polaris propose, school, fire station, medical centre- we've also wondered about a Hotel. Although there will be a whole range of rental properties for the potential golf visitors its hard to see Polaris not wanting some of that profit themselves- especially if the resort achieves competitive status. CdA is a bit out in the sticks so a Hotel makes sense for the local area as well when you consider that they were selling Oasis to us as a major tourist attraction for Murcia.
