I have just this week walked away officially with documentation to prove this from Corvera & loss of our £50,000 deposit. The upshot is that both my husband & I lost good jobs in the banking crash and as pensioners now cannot fund the mortgage . The stress of it all - my husband has Parkinson's disease - was unbearable. We have now extended our home mortgage til I am 70 and I have kept on working , fortunately in a job which respects older workers .My husband is well enough to continue at the moment. I never believed at the out set that it would end this way : I would still like to be one of those people who could complete and live there , facilities or not. i sincerely wish all the best to those enjoying the Spanish sun and empathise with others , like us , for whom the dream is over.

Sorry to hear about your predicament. Personally, I don't blame you.
I have heard, and I am not saying you or anyone should do this, that if you buy privately you could get up to 50% off, maybe enough to offset your deposit. I am sure savvy people might be contemplating this ( I am not ).

Steve You see entirely correct, the best way to get your contract annulled is to speak to Corvera, they have led lots of people find a solution...and. Have also met people whee Corvera have downscaled their investment to a cheaper property and taken some money off...so they have ended up with a small but very nice apartment at essentially a good price and are very happy as they also have their Spanish dream back..and as you are very aware Steve bring in Corvera is a Spanish dream, I can't believe we hesitated to buy ever, am so glad we went ahead.

Haha no just wasn't a member of the forum, wanted to sort my own strategy in my head out first..and very happy having completed. If Steve and Jane are positive people after their experience at Corvera I understand it, I am all for getting on with life and turning negatives into positive outcomes and I am delighted with the way things are heading there, I just know everything is going to come out right now.

@ davej.... i agree. maybe i am an old cynic but when someone suddenly appears on here declaring a corvera love-fest and somehow claiming everyone should be doing deals right now with the "new owner whilst he is in the mood" my vested interests radar starts going haywire! ( especially as it appears by the grammar use that our new friend on the block isnt writing in her/his mother tongue!)

Hi spanhod, that's an interesting statement, are you suggesting my English isn't exemplary? If so I apologise, my iPad is doing that word suggest change too often, sorry if you are a stickler for grammar, mine has deteriorated massively since getting the iPad, but it is amazing and so lightweight, 600g slips easily in my Ryanair hand luggage when we pop on the plane to corvera and a Vodafone microsim gets me all the access I need to the internet until the clubhouse opens, fixed broadband remains expensive in Spain, but I understand they too are introducing wireless pointers which will make Internet on the move very easy wherever, so I might consider that later. It isnt meant to sound like a 'love fest' but I am genuinely amazed myself how fab it is every time I go there, there is something very special about that place which I can't quite put my finger on, don't know whether it's the dramatic scenery on the golf course or the wonderful community, or the fact that everyone has a story. Here's an interesting one, met someone who had signed out to agree to lose their deposit the other day and then later gone back and bought a bigger place on a great deal privately from smeone who wanted to sell..how clever is that? I can't think they even used a lawyer t get out of the deal...but I thn they did have to pay over a bit more money. If you wanted to do that and buy somewhere else then La Torre is well cheap now..but Roda prices remain high and popular, I popped by the other day for a bite in the clubhouse which was heaving. They are now selling parcels of land rather than cuilding the next phase, interesting idea. Anyway whatever any of you decide to do,it's interesting times now we have this new owner, who incidentally was driving round the golf course last week in his black Merc. Things will move quickly I think and my guess is that deals will be on the table at the same time as they do the debt collection onslaught with some uk lawyers and debt collection companies as they will inevitably bring some properties back onto the market and want to get rid so they can finance the next stage of their plan. Meanwhile thnk of me on that gorgeous course getting sunburnt with my amazing set of friends there, shame I won't meet you to play a round but I hope you get whatever it is you want before the big legal guns start blazing ..I got what I want which was to live my Spanish dream at a discount without lawyers involved!

Thanks for that Corvera girl, your post really made me laugh. Given the picture you paint i just cant believe there is anybody out there that doesnt want to complete or not buy there immediately. Hey and at the same time they can buy an ipad (from Vodafone of course) and fly Ryanair as well. ( i think thats all the sponsors covered).
On a more serious note , please dont get sunburnt, its really not good for you. It ages the skin and can also lead to cancer. Also owner or not i really think that someone should tell him that he shouldnt be driving his Black mercedes or any other road vehicle for that matter around the golf course. He could really damage the greens/fairways and potentially get trapped in a bunker.
Thank you as well for your advice on the legal aspects. Your knowledge of everything appears to be superb. I really hope that the debt collecting "onslaught" doesnt happen anytime soon as for the big legal guns blazing, that just sounds horrific! Anyway i am happy that you are happy and thank you for the concern you have shown about my happiness to. (which i am glad to confirm to you is at optimum levels currently).
I must dash now as i am off to play a round at my local course before heading off to our beach house for the easter break.

Banks in Spain are a huge problem and there is NO WAY this market is going to move any further (as a matter of fact it is going backwards) and I never thought I would say this but these banks are dragging Spain into deeper troubles. The banks in Spain have no desire to take a calculated risk where their exposure is almost NONE. I don't have a problem with what I have at Corvera but I sincerely hope that guys like Chris and Roy keep everyone motivated.........
Airport is ready but these IDIOTS had no systems in place to keep up with the progress and transport infrastrucure. Operator is clueless as to how the airfreight/courier logistics is going to be put in place (I would like to invest but from my personal experience, I feel that the information is being supressed and contracts are already in place with chosen few!!!!!). Usual practices in Spain.......
So many owners were so very excited and looking forward to this opening........
"Success breeds success" - is missing from Spanish culture........
What a let down.
