Corvera Airport

I know there are other threads on the new airport but as it's been something of a mystery, I thought I would do a bit of research as it will undoubtedly be a massive boon to Condado for lots of different reasons. There is a bog on the progress here.

Based on the fact it is meant to be between Corvera and Fuenta Alamo, I used a google map to plot relative positions to Condado and San Javier. If this guesswork is correct you can see what a brilliant location it will be for Condadians.

Did a search myself for the location of the airport, found this map on another site, follow this link http://www.murcia-golf.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=694&fullsize=1.  it shows the location of the airport with a good road link for us, so it should cut the travel time in half in relation to San Javier.

There is an airstrip below new motorway on google earth , anyone know what this is?

When we were out in September I didn't see much progress, a few trees planted along the road down to a roundabout thats all.

I think the airstrip on google earth is the site for the airport because if you look across towards the houses on the site there is a wind sock and a small plane next to the terracota coloured house.

As I work in the electricity industry for a global manufacturer I asked my colleagues in Spain if they had seen an enquiry for the Electrical supply station and generators required for the airport.

They told me that, as far as they knew, no enquiry had been submitted. As the new airport will require a substation etc to power a small town and these are generally on a 12 - 18 month delivery I cannot see the airport being up and running before 2012.

There is one interesting factor however... Just off the RM2 back towards San Javier there is a new industrial park which looks like it is owned and developed by GE. 
GE happen to be another one of the top companies in the electricity supply equipment industry and there is a huge building of the size required to house these transformers whilst being built..... Coincidence !!!!!

If you look west of Los Maldonadas on MU602on Satilliite Google earth there is an airstrip built !

Just uploaded a picture taken from the Condado sales office on site showing where the airport is. There is supposed to be 2 roads heading out northwards and 1 road south which I think will be the MU601 to Feunte Alamo, this will then pick up on the new motorway to Condado.

Although the picture shows 2009 I was also told it would be in 2010.

bad news also told disney isnt coming.it was just a false rumour but the stones may come to condado!

Sorry to tell you but that last comment from Ladylola was a lie.  Lord Lucan was actually in the bar doing karaoke with Elvis at the time.  (And complaining about the prices).  Even with this credit crunch I'm sure the airport will be built, just in Spanish time.  Manana.  C'mon were all in it for the long term right?  Lets not all try to second guess which piece of brown earth on google represents the airport (sounds silly now dosent it) and wait for reliable confirmed information.  Otherwise the rumours will start.  Talking of starting rumours.  Elvis was not actually in the bar....................... It was John Lennon.

To be fair to George, the girl at the Polaris did say the Rolling Stones may come - but then they also said that we would have 2 Foros, Extra Pools, Garden BBQs .................................  but George will believe anything!!!!
