Hi, we are just back from a long weekend in Murcia, having a look at progress at Corvera, and also a look around the area as we didn't have much time to do so back in March when we bought our property at Corvera. We are LS purchasers and have bought in phase 4 which is due around the end of 2010 so we have AGES to go! However it was still interesting to see how much progress has been made in the past 7/8 months and the place is really taking shape now, with the golf course layout, and they are digging out one of the lakes, plus starting to dig out a reservoir up at the back of the property. We plan to go back in about 9-12 months time and keep an eye on the Corvera website, and this forum in the meantime. Pablo told us the golf course is still planned to be ready for summer 2009 and the first properties ready for occupancy in spring 2009. The place seemed to be a hive of activity when we were there (photos uploaded) and people were still coming to the sales office to look at properties.
We also drove past the site of the new airport, lots of portakabins in place, again Pablo thought they were starting to build the control tower.
I agree Corvera village itself doesn't have a lot to offer at the moment but has all the basics and we think it will expand rapidly - there are a number of cranes putting up apartments in the village. There is a lot of potential for bars, restaurants etc to come, esp when the airport is up and running. Murcia city is 15 minutes away by car and we spent a pleasant afternoon on Sunday looking round the city centre (the cathedral is beautiful), and enjoying a beer and tapas in Plaza des Flores which is very lively. We also went to Cabo De Palos down at the tip of La Manga, which is a pretty little fishing port with some nice restaurants. We also did the drive along the La Manga strip just for a look and it was tacky - won't be going back there again! We stayed at Los Narejos at the Husa 525 which is a nice hotel, and not far to walk to a lovely beach -again about 25/30 mins drive from Corvera. There's a whole load more places we'd like to visit next time in the region and Corvera is centrally placed for getting to them so we have no issues with it being 'in the middle of nowwhere' - in fact that's what's sold it to us, the peace, tranquility and the national park at your backdoor.
We also popped into Roda and had lunch at the Clubhouse; it's gorgeous and if the clubhouse at Corvera is to the same high standard we will be very satisfied! We spoke to one of the guys in the sales office and he reckons the commercial centre at Roda will be starting in Jan 09 and they were still waiting to hear about when the hotel would start.
We came home feeling a lot more comfortable about buying at Corvera and can't wait for 2010...if anyone else has bought in phase 4 let us know!
Bye for now - Christine & Harry
