Hello there,
On the Corvera thread there has been discussion about this and whether De Vere are promoting it at all - can anyone who has been to Roda recently shed any light? I believe it is to take place between the 25th-28th November?
Many thanks,
Sue

Hi all,
It was mentioned on Spectrum FM radio today along with the pro-am at Roda this month.

The competition certainly existed, it was a great event albeit blighted by some bad weather.
Ireland won at a canter with Scotland coming second, unfortuantely Wales did not feature this year, there were 24 teams competing including a team from the United Arab Emirates.
Mike Maloney of De Vere and his team put on a super event and the golf course as always was in great shape.
Congratulations must go to Ireland for a fantastic score.

The PGA of Europe International Team Championship was played by teams made up of the top performing club professionals in each country including South Africa, Emirates, Slovakia, Ireland, England, Scotland, Finland, Sweden etc etc and although as CIP says the weather was cold and windy the event was certainly successful it would seem as there was plenty of life in the clubhouse during the day and evening with live scoring on display on a large computer screen and the PGA scoreboard outside. Although there were not many spectators on most of the days as it was quite cold I managed to see quite a bit of the golf and really enjoyed it. I was somewhat encouraged to see that even the pros struggled with some of the water hazards as I do. The Pro's were all staying in Roda in the rental apartments and Roda was very busy for the week. I spoke with quite a few of the players and they were very complimentary about the course, the clubhouse food and the facilities.
To be fair to Calidona and the PGA they both seemed to do a good job in promoting the event as there was a lot of publicity in the local Spanish press, on the radio and in Golf Link magazine. The competition was not for tour professionals therefore it would not feature on the radar of the national press etc. However with the good performance of Ireland and Scotland I am sure that some of the Uk press may pick it up now that it is over.
